Would I be right in guessing that you can't deploy mines? Would be nice if you could.:D

I remember being able to do that with an old WW2 sub sim on my mac plus many years ago.

Deploying mines in front of a task force and then positioning myself ready to attack after they ran into them. Claimed some easy tonnage that way!:arrgh!:

Is that flag applied to other sub models too yet ? It has not to be a stupid svastika but at least SOME flag there looks really cool.

The submarine is a playable submarine and is with the JGSM
to insert into the Campagne .
Over JSGM and one is overwritten to - VIIC - Sielt the VIID in the
Campagne.

That lasts to beautiful if one with the explode-Minen expressions
implementing could (Mines to be put and during contact exploding)

There are with you some good Modder before my time the mines was
occupied.

Around some too call with the busy are ( Minen ):
rowi58, DivingDuck.... if we their experience to transfer here would
know last the great project,

Their experience to bring in here lasts a new dimension for the
players so also for
GWX.:sunny:

and all Silent Hunter III would let lost player revive again.

For me alone a shoe size is too large, because but my knowledge
is enough
not yet out. :damn:

I think the sub is really neat. I did an exhaust smoke version for it for WAC (AI sub though not human playable). Very cool! I'm fixing their flag animation problem for it also. :D

it exists mod for mines: here read COVERSION OF THE TYPE II G7E TORPEDOE TO A STATIONARY MINE
ONCE LAUNCHED REMAINS STATIONARY WHERE YOU LEFT IT
install both file to data/library
make bak ups of your stock files before installing--
add a couple of g7e type II torps to your boat
usually best in the rear compartment--
and try and mine a harbour

It's just the guy's opinion. If "these foreigners" think less of you or anyone else for what he said, then their thoughts are not worth caring about.

I personally think the ship looks great. It would be better if mines could be made deployable and you could be assigned mine laying missions in the game. That would add a great new challenge for players.

New boat ..thank you very much for taking your time and creating something for all of us to enjoy...oh ya FOR FREE HELLO. I used to mod SH2 and could never understand when someone was less than polite when reviewing it .

Now back to to the mine problem CB's mine a static torpedo was a fix for mines in SH2 I wrote some test mission using them and they worked great....except they were contact torpedos(SH2 did not have magnetic torpedos coded there was some basic work done in the "Unit"files but the SDK codes never reconized these files (sorry I degress)

Now SH3 does have magnetic torpedos I am no hex editor but could we not increase the collision model of the torpedo to "simulate" a greater area of "trigger" for the magnetic torp???

I don't know how SH3 relates to unit files but I am sure we could use the current mine model (visually) and link it to a modded torp and we might be set.

any thoughts ?

Re the lame post about it being stipid [sic] as it doesn't deploy mines, I reckon give the community two to four weeks and there'll be a solution. CB did something on mines many months ago, so it must be possible.

Looks like there'll soon be a legitimate reason to go harbour raiding, LOL!

Should be in the 9th Flotilla out of Brest

History
The 9th flotilla was founded during the autumn of 1941. After some preparations U-213 (http://uboat.net/boats/u213.htm)was the first boat which reached Brest on 20 March, 1942, and attached to the flotilla in April 1942.
In August/September 1944 most of the boats left the base for Norway.

6 VIID boats - U 213- U 218
Only U 218 survived the war

I must admit I was thinking of how, campaign wise, it could be accurately incorporated short of replacing an existing flotilla with a dedicated 9 Flotilla.

I was thinking 1 Flotilla, as it sailed from Brest, and one VIID was attached for a short while during 1942, so not that far from reality.

I do not know how it was working in reality, but I think the boat ´shoots´ the mines out and they float on the surface of the water. This was already once realized by DivingDuck. With contact to a ship they explode. As far as I know the U-Boot was stacked with 15 mines.
In this stage I am again asking for additional help, as my knowledge with Hex editor is still limited and I am a beginner in this area.
At the moment racerboy is helping me with the exhaust and the flag … I think he would also be capable helping me with the other problem, but still I would appreciate other help.

As far as I know the U-Boot was stacked with 15 mines.


They were armed with 12 torpedoes or 26 SMA mines (= 39 TMB)

TMA (Torpedo mine A) Mines were pre-war standard design floating mines, phased out by TMB from mid-September 1939. Stored aboard U-boats in the same manner as torpedoes, TMA mines were shorter than “eels”, measuring only 3.64 metres long. Their detonator was of the magnetic influence type. However because the complete mine comprised the anchor by which to moor it to the seabed plus the connecting cable, the actual warhead was relatively small at 215kg.

TMB was also designed especially for submarine use. Again deployed via the torpedo tubes in the same manner as a torpedo, they were slightly smaller than TMA mines — measuring 2.31 meters — thereby allowing the submarine carrier to load even more into its confined storage space. Up to three could be fired from a single torpedo tube as a single shot. This was an unearthed “ground mine” that utilized a magnetic firing pistol, activated on a timer allowing the U-boat to depart before the mine became “live”. It carried an explosive TNT charge of 567kg — twice that of period torpedoes. The mine was laid on the bottom in shallow seaways and detonated by the magnetic field generated by large ships passing above. The explosive force beneath a ship's keel carried by shock waves through incompressible water was usually more effective than a contact hit against a hull side, often snapping a vessel's spine and dooming her instantly.
These mines were originally ordered laid at a depth of 30 metres. However questions arose as to the weapon's reliability at that depth and further trails were conducted. Following these it was established that 25-metres was a more suitable depth, and more likely to prove fatal to shipping above. It began to be noticed that often the magnetic trigger was itself overly sensitive and smaller ships were sunk than those intended. The blast from such a mine against smaller trawlers was particularly devastating. U-boat crews therefore began sowing their minefields in progressively shallower waters as well as de-magnetizing them so as to reduce their sensitivity.

This is the info I have on the subject ..

The type VII D was a lengthened sub-variant of the successful type VII C battle submarine.
To enable it to transport and lay type SMA moored mines, a section with five mine silos each holding 3 SMA mines was incorporated behind the conning tower. This extended the overall length by 9.80m.
The six subs [U-213 - U218] were built at the Germania shipyard at Kiel and engaged in a total of 31 operations against the enemy, in which they sank 10 ships with a total of 42,622 GRT. Only U-218 survived the war and arrived in Bergen, Norway on 8.5.1945.

Iwould like to wait for the version of Racerboy.
In addition I would have the boat with exhausts mod with the Racerboy in work am out-skillful.
Probably Racerboy is very busy.

With the mines I could not myself employ intensively yet.
It is in work.

The mines are thrown in the water and go on the depth.
One must find out this part with hexeditor and insert in the submarine.
Indeed, should not fall minen down, but upwards swimmen.
Because the boat in the dipped one was entitled minen from the upwards eject .
Now should swim minen on the water surface what to share from Diving Duck has been done. This lasts one:roll: :hmm:

The mines released by the VIID shouldnt float - The TMA was a floating mine but wasnt used after 1939
They should be shallow depth only ( 20-25m ) magnetic mines fired from the torp tubes like a torpedo
Only smaller in length

TMA

The TMA was a moored mine, which meant that it was secured by a heavy anchor and a cable attached to the mine. The mine floated above the surface, while the anchor secured its position in the sea. Two could be carried in each torpedo tube.
Length/Diameter: 11.1ft (3.38m)/21in (533mm)
Maximum Depth: 270m
Warhead: 215kg

It was redesigned as the TMC in late 1939


TMB

The TMB was a ground mine, which meant it settled at the bottom of the seabed. It was detonated by the magnetic or acoustic signature of a passing ship. For maximum effectiveness, it could be laid only in shallow waters of up to 20 meters. Three could be carried in each torpedo tube.
Length/Diameter: 7.6ft (2.3m)/21in (533mm)
Maximum Depth: 20m
Warhead: 580kg

a pretty interesting thread indeed. Nice boat Tomi, congrats. Nice pic Alex :D . Where the hell did you catch me?
I´m not up to date yet with all the new threads and topics, but this one seems to be outstanding.
BBW, can you tell how the mines have been deployed. Have they been released through the torpedo tubes? Did the TMA have an automated mooring mechanism, or did the boat carry scuba divers to moore them? But no matter how they have been used, the only 2 ways I can imagine is:

TMA-floating mines wihtout a securing anchor (holding position the same way as the buoys do)
TMB-ground settleing minesDon´t know wether it is possible to make them surface after beeing released at a certain depth or make them sink to the bottom without getting destroyed. But that´s what I can imagine and would like to see in the end.

They used the TMB after 1939 anyway = 14 x torpedoes or 26 TBM mines and 15 x SMA mines
Fired through torp tubes same as a torp then settled on the seabed

The shafts behind the conning tower were for SMA mines

SMA (Schachtmine or Shaft mine) mines were designed to be laid by specially designed mine laying submarines equipped with vertical shafts. An anchored mine, of the same style as the TMA, SMA mines were 2.15 metres in length with a diameter of 1.33 metres. Type VIID and Type X U-boats were to be the principal U-boat carriers of this weapon. However, as the U-boats became operational it was found that an internal fault within SMA weapons would lead to premature detonation once deployed. An embargo was placed on their use until March 1943 when the problem had been rectified. U117 was the first U-boat to deploy the redesigned SMA off the Moroccan coast after transfer to Bordeaux's 12th U-Flotilla

Some of the Stock 1.4b Conning towers are really a pain to paint. Is that the best Ubisoft could come out with? :shifty: Or is there a better way to wrap textures evenly on models.

Is it possible someone did this?

Men thought was to be out-supplied it the BOLT to using around the
mines from the chambers.
The axles would have to be dipped the BOLT horizontal are discharged
there.

Lets say we use the default SH3 conning tower IX/1 or Turm9c_1 model. Is it possible to capture a better visible surface on the id?. What would I have to do to reselect the areas on the TGA texture file so the surface shows a even pattern instead of many mixed patterns that don't really fit.

If you see this conning tower I painted. The front shows the skin being cut in 4. There has to be a way to make the skin wrap better. Have one cut in the front center to the back.

I tryed inverting it and I can see all the details like the model shows in game with out the textures. This is the right way to work with it... Right:hmm:

If they do launch vertical, how will they work as far as ammunition, will you be issued say, half dozen mines at beggining of the patrol that do not take up regular type 7 torpedo slots? Or will they display just like a torpedo? Or am I mis-understanding?

I do not believe you with exporting problem has.:-?

You were able to the figures in W3D positioning, and an UVW mapping for the figure provide.
By the clones kud you several figures in W3D provide and can use the same Skin.
If you want to use several Skins it is to be integrated advisable about Pack3D .

carrying the texture mapping forward to the game isn´t that complicated.
• First of all make sure you assign the appropriate ID´s to all faces/polygons.
• The texture´s names you use are unimportant. Export to *.obj and import using Pack3D.
• Open your hex editor and search for the object´s node. At the end of the data block you´ll find all that´s needed to assign the textures.
The pic below contains all you need to know. (it´s an early stage screenshot of my speedboat *.dat)

see the OBJECT 3D ID, it contains 15 digits only. 0A 8E EA A2 47 BB 85 2D. Seems that Pack3D uses to cut the leading 0.

looking at the subpen screenshot I think it could be the same annoying issue as with the u-boat interior. The pen´s 3D object data block probably contains a TMAP section. ref supposed it could be some kind of prelighting. But for now I don´t know how to bring that one in. Even re-importing the original *.obj results in a loss of this information. That´s the reason why it looks that foggy. Every other object that is brought into the scene looks pretty well lighted since it has it´s own TMAP section.

There is one difference. If I invert it. I see all the proper faces and some I shouldn't see. What I do to remove the odd face is click on ignore face and it goes invisable.

Today we built towers with several different versions of the inventory.

What skin should i use for this boat?. One other problem has also appeared..the conning tower emblems no longer appear to work.

The snorkel I has found this Mod I believe it is from Anvart itself well for it is suited. I changed only the Skins and improves this look of the snorkel. I would like to give Anvart big respect for it, and big thanks to for here difficult work it was performed here.
I give them these revised Mod and the reference DAT, so you can able to build her own version.

Or do I install your VIIC_3 first?
I’ve installed yours VIIC_3 first then added Anvart modified work by you and I get some serious issues.
I can’t get onto the bridge.
Destroyed both periscopes
Your add on destroyed all radars and antennas.
If I look free view and see under the sub I’m missing textures and can see through the sub looking up.
This is what I did I installed your VIIC_3 then rotating antenna and last FuMO37 mod.
Which files did you change in Anvart work?
I’m going to continue trying other configurations.

I used Anvarts dual sensor mod fix before and working. When I try yours its all buggers up?
The only thing I could think maybe its Sergbutos camera mod? I'll remove it to see if thats the cause of the glitch.

Anyone managed to get the new snorkel working in GWX??

I tried to mess around with the files, but alas I'm poor when it comes to modding!:-?
So id didn't get it working. Get the destroyed bridge and periscopes problem!

BESTIMMT BENÜTZT DU DEN ( Camera Mod von Sergbuto )
macht Probleme !!
Weiter oben in meinen Beispiel , ist er bei mir auch deaktiviert.

Dieser Camaramod verhindert die F4 Taste ( Brücke )
und die Periskopansicht.

Das mit dem Loch am Kiel habe ich schon Korriegiert, ist mir bekannt -
Heute werde ich es Reliesen.

Bin dabei auch für GWX v1.3 Sensors.DAT zu optimieren .
Dann Denke ich dürfte dein Cameramod wieder laufen.
Im Momemt habe ich ein Problem mit den Skin, bei GWX v1.3 - dummerweise erscheint der Schnorchel immer weis.

Erfreuliche Nachrichten !!
Der GWX v1.3 Sensors .DAT ist auch so weit .
Der Schnorchel hatt senen Tarnanstrich bekommen und Die Sensordat wird somit automatisch mit den Neuen Hülle Reliest ( Alles im Einen -Nur für GWX. v1.3 )

Tomi is about to optimise his newest Release for GWX 1.3.
And is currently testing if the newest version of his mod is working with the Camera Mod by Sergbuto!
He also gave the snorkel a Camo Texture make-over

He's currently reworking the Sensors.DAT so his mod doesn't conflict with the one from GWX.
He already fixed the missing Keel problem that showed up on the VIIC after installing the mod, and will be aviable with the new release.

Thats great news. will it work with stock SH3 also or only GWX.

That keel problem was one issue before. Transparent hull very nice touch. Thanks tomi for the newer release going to try it again. Crossing my fingers

I could not repair the Conflict with Sergbuto' great Camera Mod in moment.

For it were repaired other more paled, how the Skin Probl.
Now the integrated Skin is not called any more

NSS_Uboat7c_hull there called Uboot7c_hull.tga,

in addition became the GWX v1.3 (Sensor.Dat) conformist,
the new snorkel with a camouflage pattern agree, and is not white any more.

And , Then the Hull Problem Fixit

Lo, everyone!

I finished the testing of Tomi's Mod for GWX 1.3, and so far it works almost flawless! :rock:

Great Job Tomi! :up:

IT works with every VIIC skin that is GWX ready.


The install is JSGME Ready! And is packed in one file.
So no more need to have the Rotation-Data and the FuMB data in seperate files!
As for now it won't work with the Sergbuto's Cameramod, as Tomi stated. He'll will be looking into this.
It also won't work with any version of nvdrifters LRT mod unless LRT is loaded last!

Well that all there is for now!

i'm playng with GWX 1.3 and with your previous version all worked fine.
Now i've installed the latest V1.1 with snorkel for GWX and i have this....
(pics related to a single mission with Type VIIC in 1944 but i've got the same on a new campaign)

and immediatly after the start i receive a message about the distruction of the radar antennas and warning receivers toghether with the snorkel too...

Then go to Library folder ( Yours SH3 GAME FOLDER )
and Sensors.dat rename on 1_Sensors.dat and the remaining 4 (val, sim, xxx)

Instal ONLY my folder with JSGME in the right field.

Then starts Single Mission - VIIC 1945 - Gibraltar –
request say to me the result.

I believe that is the forward sonar array present on VIIc/42 boats, not sure they were ever installed on VIIc/41s...

From a personal point of view, I'd like my VIIc without one, kinda ruins the streamlined look.:-?

I believe that is the forward sonar array present on VIIc/42 boats, not sure they were ever installed on VIIc/41s...

From a personal point of view, I'd like my VIIc without one, kinda ruins the streamlined look.:-?

Its the BalkonGerat addon in the year 1943 hydrophones. Its an option not a permanent fixture. Your more familiar with the KDB.

Forgive me if I missed this detail but: Does this boat have extended cruise range incorporated? The extra length of them allowed for much greater fuel capacity--they could make the coast of the US easily.

I've realized a skins set around the awesome Tomi's VII C_3 tower mod starting from some skins made by Fubar wich remain the author of the basic layouts of them. I've only tweaked and upgraded it with the details present in the Tomi's model and then i have applied on the front part of the tower the crest of the "adoptive city" the custom much diffusing in according to the second period of war when every city adopted a boat.
In addition I have placed some of the historical mottos that came by hand painted with grey or white varnish on the same tower, informal custom but much diffusing between the crews.
The skins are four Atlantic camo (Tomi's stock one), Atlantic dark, Mediterranean camo and Winter camo ice covered.

Das Scheint die etwas Neuere Version zu sein, mit den Drehrad und nicht mit den Stab der zum drehen ist
.
Wunderbar !! das kommt im nächsten Update heraus, weil ich da noch die Seitenlocher,
wie bei dir abgebildet herausmache und ich denke das wird auch die Letzte Variante sein.

See Tomi you and I think the same. I didn't want to ask you this because it looks hard to do.

I was just adding snow and ice like textures to my skins to make it feel cold. But if you can add model that is timed for the winter arctic seasons well thats amazing feat. But I'll say no more... :smug:

Tomi I can make you a snow texture 512x512 and you could use that to UV map it to a model. Question is how do we make it seasonal? Its going to look strange in summer with loads of ice and snow on the cables.

Now for diving ducks debris, ya I used it for my new Campaign. If we need DD to help I guess. It is a big project that is for sure. I could ask and Racerboy should be back soon so I'll ask him too if he's interested. Let me look around abit and see who could aid us...:hmm:
