Tomi habe das Boot etwas getestet...und es ist echt der hammer! Es is ein sehr tolles Boot! Klasse arbeit!

Habe aber leider leichter texture flicker im unteren Heck-Torpedobereich entdeckt!

Werde versuchen diese mit einem screeny einzufangen.

Hi Tomi,

there is a bad news!:damn:
Try to use your boat to play the single mission U505. you will find that the DDs can detect you even you are full stop the motor and submerdged.if you are @ periscope depth they will directly fire @ you by thier guns. I think that's because tall antenna you added on the conning tower.
I recently also make a small MOD to detailed the Jumping wire of 7c3 conning tower (just detailed the jumping wire nothing else get touched)and also find the similar problem but a little better than that of yours, that the DD will not directly fire @ u by their guns when you are @ periscope depth. But still seems the DD can easly detect you(the noise meter keeps red all the time even you dive below 260 meter and keep @ 2 knots):damn: .
I do the same test for the stock 7C3 conning tower. Just after the game begins the noise meter keeps in red in about 10+ seconds after the closest DD pass you by the noise meter turn back to green.

Do not know why????? need some MOD aces like privateer or someone else to help on this.:rock:

So it might be the antenas!

Any update on this WIP ? I took it for a test drive and loved the 3-D drain holes, though feel the water is too "white" when inside them. Also, will this be compatible with Rubini's drain hole water effect ?

If you increase any model part.
Say an antenna is a bit higher then stock.
You increase the Bounding Box the Game "Sees".
All may appear correct to our eyes but!
Not to the Game Engine.
We see things differently.

This seems to me logical and absolutely possible, this lasts more fatal - "error" - many have done, because one the Bounding box as only one green edge is to be recognised.

Regarding CTD error message, No error message shown after CTD. Or the SH3 has a funtion that can create an error txt file somewhere? I dont know.

Can not find the turm7c3 in NSS_Uboat7c41.eqp
But can find it in NSS_Uboat7c.eqp.
Do you mean the line"StartDate" in the section below in this file?

third coning with 3 AA mounts, 2 twin 20mm, 1 single 37mm

I think the date here is same to that in stock version.
Have changed it to StartDate=19430101 and try to load get same result - CTD

If it this only grind is lasts e long to the program beginning,
and sometimes gives e a black screen. and then Programm-cresh .
So thets only by the first Time or first Start.
Given the PC a little Time.

. If a Campagne Beginning it is not because of the Equcment Config.
. Because most Campagnes in 1939 starting, the VIIc / 41 there was not at this time, therefore the boat is mostly in 1945 to plays. The best one prove is the single mission, how said this

However, this lies with the Equcment file the Turm3 only from a certain date responds.
Man can change the Equcment By hand with text editor then one is able to do (date), boot also to 1939 plays.
Unfortunately, I am able to do it at the moment not figuratively pointing because I am not at home .
When you Started Champagne at 1939 the Programme - Load Turm1 ( I Rework Turm3) First from GWX2.0 Folder to my Hull.

Hi Tomi,

I should like to start to work on your type VIId.
My main work is on the .dat file.
Do you already finished it?
The more important is that you, if possible, not more change the drain holes places. The water stream mod will be individualy adjusted for each drain hole.

Anyway I can make the work on your last .dat and then resend it to you. You then must use this new .dat to continue your work. This way your VIId will since now have the water stream.

Your VIIc is awesome Tomi! The details are a must for any uboat fan!
You will see that in your model the actual water stream pattern is a bit to few, just beacuse we can see all that holes in 3D and then we feel that more holes need to have water. I will work on this soon!:up:

As dentier pointed to us I will make, AFTER finish all the uboats, a more special nose effects for Type VII/II as we can see on the video that he found. Specially for the emerging times.:yep:

Thanks again Tomi, but the oscar is for you!

Anyhow, I forgotten to say that I made two versions, one normal and another with more contrast between the water streams and the VIIC/41 hull color. The normal, is the dafault. The more contrast one needs juts to be renamed correctly (both on 7c folder).

Let me know if you find any problem or any comment/suggestion.:up:

In these pics you probably have something wrong with the water stream mod. They aren´t pixelized as in these pics. They are in truth very smooth and have a real feeling of water draining from the holes...you probably have something incompatible with water stream mod on your installation.:hmm: :hmm:

I have done the pictures with PrintKey and only a little the Gama regulator shifted any more I have not done.
Maybe the Grafic Setings are different like Wulfehater says,
however, this is not aware to me.

Your 3D model has needed a lot of work; it's an evidence. And it could be nice to use,
But, the long water hole in the middle of the hull is too much small (in his Height). It looks like a string.
About open holes, those in the low hull position are nice to see and give something real, and this is a +
But, for other holes i will prefere to see it close and black, with just the "illusion mod" made by Rubini.
It's always a curious thing to see this clear blue water go inside the sub, and for me it's a non-sens.
With these little modifications, your 3D model will be a top
Dont forget also the simple VIIC model.

Then, after, forgot a little sub and attack 3D crew models, or then guns model, or still the interior. There are here many little things to do for a good 3D modder.

No the reason is that low mod by the Polygon Cruncher 7 is in such a way reduced that it difficult is to have beautiful model to be gotten.

A correct challenge. With this new Mod the Polygon is higher and it is not reduced. Thus should decay more exactly and more beautiful to be .

Maybe it's one of the many changes not documented.
The Turm IV actually appeared in many forms from research I have found.
But very few pictures I found show them all.
Then there are Turm V and Turm VI versions as well.

After looking closer at that last photo you posted,
I believe it was doctored.
The hatch is there.
But the photo blurs at a defined line to hide it.
Standard work for the period.
And a very bad job at retouching.

that picture may have been retouched when it was first released.
Which would have been way back when?
But look close at the top of that rear hatch.
and the area surroundingit.
there is a very defined line then much smugging.
And the shadeing does not fit.

I know that some people will look at the above pictures and say it’s just a German submarine. But to SH3 players this Type VIIC Variant is a work of art. You have combined Grace Beauty and Menace to produce a truly fantastic model. After all the submarine was German engineering at its best and as for you to make this model as realistic as possible can only please every one who see’s and hopefully uses it. ( I want it added to my game now) “TIME is not good when you are the one waiting” and as for Venatore wanting to produce a new skin for it That is really good I love his VIIC Atlantic Workhorse Skin IV although the IXB.1 blue skin would look fantastic on this Variant I just cant wait to see the whole package finished. Please keep up the good work :up:

Das habe ich auch versucht bei meinen neuen Mulitisub Projekt.
Das Resultat war ein Chresh ( CTD ) , vermutlich ist der Speicher Überfordert.

Tomi with the new deck. Will the drain holes on the deck be indented so water will look like its going down in it? It could give the illusion of water draining if the holes are slightly lower than the deck plating? Maybe?:hmm:

Please try with holes closed; your magnifique 3D work on hull in general is much more important than these open little holes ...

As far as I can tell, the VIID will replace one of the type-VII boats. Which one? (For example, in the Type-XXIII project, we replaced the Type-XXI). If there's been no decision it it, probably the best one to replace will be the VIIC/42. I am aware that the hull modificatoins will affect the VIIC, VIIC/41 and VIIC/42, but that's okay. However, I'll need to alter the tower assignments.

The main thing will be to generate new tower menu graphics. As soon as the tower is operational I'll be able to do this. If there is only a single tower, I'll need to know how many Flak platforms there will be so I can configure the Basic.cfg file.

Um eine erfolgreiche Campagne durchzuführen haben wir Standart ins SH3 eine 7bHülle und eine 7cHülle und eine VIIc41Hülle die Identisch sind,
im Campagne wird aber bei GWX2.1 immer die VIIc41 angezogen bei einer Campagne ( mir ist das ein Rätzel )

hinzu kommen drei 7B türme und neun 7C Türme, davon sind identische Turm1 / 7/8/9

Also soll ich die VII-D in eine VIIC41( von GWX2.1 ) einfügen.
Oder soll ich eine VIIC42 machen die du dann in die Campagne einfügst.
Ist das überhaupt möglich ????

I've been doing some work on the VIID mod, mostly on menu graphics. I hope to have something to show soon.

One thing I was doing, however, was seeing if I could model this as a NEW conning tower, rather than a reaplcement of an existing one. As the files I've got are a replacement for the VIIC/3 tower (and the tower I'm using is the late war VIID variant -- the VIID/2 tower), then I'm trying to see if I can abandon use of the 7c_3 and use 7d_2 instead.

So... in the file Basic.cfg, there are sections for conning towers. I've added an ned conning tower type:

Finally, I've altered the U-boat to use this tower (this used to be Z01_00=7 which, for the "replaced" VIIC/3 turm, worked fine):

Okay... so with all that done, when I run the game, and select that boat (in a LAN game, for easy testing), the boat appears, but with no conning tower whatsoever. This means that keys like F3, F4, B, O, etc. don't work and from external view (F12), I see the hull, but with no tower.

What I'm wondering, is whether creating a new tower is actually an impossible task (like creating a new U-boat type).

Has anyone else ever managed it?

And, if so, does anyone have any ideas of other areas in the data files that might need changing that I've missed?

Okay... I've not managed to crack the problem of adding a new playable Turm type into the game, so I'll stick with the replacing the VIIC/3 with the VIID/2 Turm. Here's a screenshot of the boat, as I'm using it in Multiplayer games...

I wood like to have a Open Door by the Tower and you can the See above inner interier in the Tower.
By diving was the Door automatic closed?
One resolution is, we have one Torpedo animation door , and a Rotation this to 90 degrees.

One Door open (open (visible)) by driving on the Watersurface ,
and one Closed by diving.

Just to report a problem. I was doing some tests with Tomi_099's version and noted that I was "visible" at 15m or less. That is, if my depth rose above 15m below the surface, merchants would open fire at me with machine guns, deck guns, etc.

Even though no part of the U-boat 3D model was breaking the surface, they seemed to know I was there. I tested this repeatedly and even in the middle of a convoy, if I drop below 15m they stop firing, and re-open fire again if I rise above 15m.

I'm wondering what this might be. I'm also wondering what the alterations were in sensors.dat.

This is well known, and Tomi is aware of that. It's because the collision Box of the Antenna! (Eine Box is in der tat außerhalb des boot!)

das was Wolfi hat ist die Variante die auf meinen Letzten Bildern zu sehen sind und die auf den

Eine VII/c 41 .
Hinzugekommen sind mehrere waterstrims die den U-Boot eine Realistisches aussehen
geben sollen

zusätzlich wurde die letzte Arbeit von Racerboy übernommen die Dynamischen Waterspreat
in einen Sturm ein Realistisches verhalten gibt.
Es wurden wurde die Texturen des Wasser geändert , und die Wake des U-Bootes überarbeitet.

Zu den Problem was mir Kopfzerbrechen verursacht , und ich den Fehler nicht finden konnte.

Bei Wolfi und manchen Spielern in der Vergangenheit wurde berichtet das , das
Game zu einen Cresch verursacht.
Ich selber habe das eigentlich bis zu 3x erlebt , aber nur bei der ersten Installation .
danach nicht mehr.

Zu Größeren Updates ist es leider nicht gekommen da ich mit dem Interier der Typ IIA/B
Sehr beschäftigt bin.

Vielleicht findet sich jemand unter euch der der Sache nachgehen möchte .

Perhaps not "well known" enough? I'm really sorry, but I didn't know about it, and I'm supposedly working on this project too. I just thought it might help to draw attention to it. :oops:

From what I understand, Tomi has moved off the VIID (and even the VIIC/41) in favour of new work on the Type-II interiors. In which case, I'll try to carry on with the VIID work. Is anyone else working on it too?

I've now isolated the problem antenna. It is a single vertex ausfahrende Stabantenne. It is clearly shown here:

So, I started by simply reducing the height of this to make it shorter than the other antennae on the conning tower. Here is a close-up image of the antennae. In it, you can see that I have dropped the ausfahrende Stabantenne to match the others.

However, the improvement was negligible. The boat was still being shot at at about 14.5m deep. I then tried reducing all antennae heights. Here's the wire-frame model in the editor.

In this configuration, I seem to be okay at periscope depth. The next screenshot shows this. The depth gauge reads 13m, but the armed merchant is not firing. I took the boat to Schnorkel depth (12.5) and the ship opened fire... even though I did not deploy the Schnorkel. On returning to periscope depth the gun fire ceased. The ship had lost visual contact.

Further work is needed on this, but I know now that I'm on the right track. According to the general assembly ( http://img169.imageshack.us/img169/9344/plantypviidnj7.png ), I'm not sure those antennae are supposed to be there, so I'll try further reductions.

beyond periscope depth and see what happens.
If at periscope depth, with those poles sticking up just a bit,
scope down,
and you get fired on?
It would prove my theory.

Just to let everyone know, I'm still working on the VIID mod, although I have been concentrating on the player-launched SMA (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=140078) mines recently. As they are now nearly ready for use, I've started revisiting the work that had been done on the VIID.

What I need now, is a bit of historical research, and I was wondering if others could help.

From what I can tell, there are two types of conning towers for the VIID. The first "original" one looks like this...

Note how in the second variant, there has been a platform built over part of the mine-shaft silos, so that a heavy 3,7cm/69 M42 (REF (http://www.navweaps.com/Weapons/WNGER_37mm-69_mk42.htm)).

The Turm that I am currently using is this modified Turm. It looks like this...

That screenshot is an old one, but it does show the length of the mine silos and the position of the Flak. Now, however, there is a mine launcher too (Tube 6) and the internal reserves will be the mines to be deployed. By adjusting the reload time to a few seconds, I can simulate being able to launch mines at will, as if they were being launched from the vertical shafts. I've tested this, and it works quite well.

(For the record, the above minefield claimed a C2 Cargo ship and damaged a small merchant. :yep: )

What I don't know, and this is what I'm asking help for, is whether the modified tower reduce the mine capacity.

So, I know that the original tower had 15 mines... 5 shafts of 3.

Looking at the images of the modified tower, there are only two shaft covers visible. Does this mean that only 2 shafts of 3 SMAs could be used... that is, 6 mines in total? Or was it still possible to somehow access the other shafts to include a full complement of mines?

Any hints, ideas or references would be most welcome! Thanks everyone.

What I would suggest dietrich is to get a working mod out. Set it up according to tomi's VIID model tower.

Let the public test it for a while routing out any possible bugs. Once perfected then make final correction on your mod bringing it closer to historical records.

My guess is with the 2 shafts they may have reworked the insides to accommodate 15 mines to be used by the 2 shafts? Or they stored less mines?

The main work so far has been on the SMA mines. These have now been released as part of the U-boat Armaments mod (link (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=147445)). I don't think there is much point simply re-releasing Tomi's VIID tower at this stage. However, it does make sense to complete the historical research and understand how many SMA mines the VIID carried in the two different tower configurations.

Sailing through the flames of a Hawker Hurricane i just shot down in the straits of Gibraltar.

I did notice the issue with the antenna's being above the water at periscope depth and the enemy having visual contact due to this, even though i could barely see the antenna myself lol.
Also when i dove to snorkel depth there was about 1 foot of the turm above water.
Thanks to anyone who help put this all together so far, it is truly a work of art!

I think it may be the fourth one down on the list. If so, I'd say it was designed for use with GWX based on the name - but which version, I couldn't say. If there is a readme file in the download it will probably have more information. :yep:

I may be wrong but in this mod http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=147445
it stated that it has playable mines , as very slow running (0,5 kts) torpedoes.

I haven't tried yet because I am in the middle of a patrol but I am willing to give it a shot.

Few years ago I had mod for laying mines...
I think I still have it, somewhere on my pc. It's contact mines from tubes, and procedure was like firing torpedoes, except torpedo you "fire" mines and they stay afloat!

If anybody solve problem with laying mines, I think that other "problem" will be results of that action.

It means that we will be unable to see result of our mine field. It is historical correct, but we all wish to know if we sunk any ships. :arrgh!:

Also, problem is in SH3 stock. We can lay mines, and if we be etc. 100 km away from field and some ship sunk on our mines, we will not get any information in the game. :/\\!!

As long as you complete your mission to lay them what does it really matter?

I am pretty sure there is 100% credits on ship sunk or damaged by u-boat mines during WW2...

I said, according to web page uboat.net there is almost 100% credits for German U-boat mine-laying operations.

I don't say for all mines off the Atlantic coast... Of course its impossible to credit all ships sunk by mines, but it's pretty easy for German u-boat.

There wasn't so much u-boat mine-laying mission during WW2...

It is not my cup of tea, I just said it would be nice to know in SH3 Commander or SH3 patrol report, result of you minefield... :salute:
