Battleship Texas temporarily reopens Labor Day weekend

Battleship Texas will temporarily reopen to the public on Labor Day weekend, allowing visitors to see the USS Texas that’s docked near the San Jacinto Monument in La Porte.

Battleship Texas will be open on Sept. 4 and 5 from 8 a.m. to 5:30. p.m.

The site closed in August 2019 to prepare for repair work and briefly reopened on Fourth of July weekend this year.

This is your second-to-last chance to visit the site before USS Texas leaves its current docking place in the new year. A representative for the Battleship Texas Foundation confirmed there will be one more opportunity to see the ship in early December.

The battleship was decommissioned and turned into a museum in April 1948.

Tickets are available for purchase on the Battleship Texas website. Adults cost $10; children, seniors and active military are $5.
