Steel Tide

TACTICS

General

Hints:
-make sure to lead your target for maximum accuracy.
-remember to sink cargo ships for heath and ammo.
-clicking on an objective in your objective list will highlight the corresponding dot on your radar. This is can prove to be VERY helpful at times.

Multiplayer:
If you are trying to start a LAN game and you receive a message that you do not have IPX installed, you will need to take the following steps in order to be able to play a LAN game.
Go to your [Start] menu, click [Settings], then [Control Panel], [Network], [Add], [Protocol], [Add], select [IPX compatible protocol], then click [ok]. This should get you all set and ready to go!

 


Mission 5 Walkthrough

Note Mission 5 is the LAST Mission. This is a 'spoiler' as to how to end the game.... To view, select text below with mouse.

Hint: To find and destroy the silos will be the first objective you will receive, however it will be the last thing you will do to finish the mission~!!

Head towards the objective dot and you will see a gate. There are torpedoes that fire at you from the gate so you must disable them.

Hint: Go around to the right of the rock/island instead of approaching the gate. You can avoid the torpedoes this way.

You will see a battle ship and docks. This is where the generator that controls the torpedoes is located. Destroy the generator. (Generator is not marked by objective dot.)
Drive back to the gate with under water torpedoes.
You will have to send your frogman through the small hole on the left side of the gate in order to find the panel that will open the gate once it is destroyed.

Hint: Park your sub as close as possible to the hole. Otherwise your frog man will run out of air and drown on the way back to the sub.

Enter the gate and you will be lead into a maze. You will be advised to stay submerged throughout most of the maze. However this makes finding your way out of the maze quite difficult. Moving on the surface is much easier as long as you take it slow, shooting turrets and blimps as you go.

Once out of the maze you will have to fight another submarine.


If you need health there is an undersea cave to the NW (?) that contains a cargo ship. It is not a bad idea to take advantage of this extra heath as the next half of the mission is very difficult.


To destroy the Saruvian Command Center:
It is much easier to get all of the gates open at once as opposed to entering them one by one. To accomplish this, there are two generators that need to be destroyed per gate. So, in order to open all 3 gates you must find and destroy all 6 generators. You will have to maneuver your sub in a way that allows you to see all of the generators from a distance. Binoculars are very helpful here.


Once all of the gates have been opened, pass through them all without stopping to kill the enemy�s located there. However, you may need to sink some cargo ships for health.


Position your sub up against the Saruvian station/building (?). The cannon/missile launcher cannot reach you here.
Destroy the two brown panels as the base of the building. Send in your frogman to deactivate each destructive weapon, one at a time.

After both weapons have been disabled a gate to the left of the building will open leading you into a large open area.
There are several waves of enemies here. You must destroy them all in order to open the gate containing the silos.
Use your frogman to deactivate all of the silos.


As soon as all of them are destroyed you will be given a short amount of time to find your way out of the Saruvian base before the nuclear bomb is activated.


To find your way out of base, head out of the newly opened gate.
Head to the right and shoot gate houses to open 3 gates. Pass through them.
Head to the right and do not enter the gate to the right.
Take your 1st left.
Turn left again and head through the gate on the right.
3 gates will appear and open upon approach.

TIPS

Tech Issues:
- We have encountered some graphical anomalies with some of the Voodoo video cards. If you experience any problems with these cards here is what you can do:

Try turning the "Z buffer Toggling" off. This option is located in the "Pick Video Mode" screen.
Also, the Hercules 3D Prophet Kyro video cards are having graphical problems. For these cards we recommend that you lower your resolution and make sure you have the latest drivers. You can find these drivers at www.hercules.com.

- When first joining a multi-player game, it is necessary to click the "Ready" button to show you are ready to begin the match.
