Default IXB career problem

Having problems reloading external tubes with my IXB. even though I have the IXD2 fix downloaded mod, I find that I cannot get one of the two stern external reload out for my IXB

When I have the stern topredo compartment fully manned, I get a message: "not enough crew in bow compartment" When I switch crew to the bow, just to see what would happen, I get a time for reload, but the time does not advance.....

I am able to load externals in the bow compartment, and one of the torpedoes in the stern...but one of the stern torpedoes will not load.... It looks as if I will be needing all my eels.

Can anyone help??

thanks

I've been having a version of this same trouble lately with my Type IXB. Not sure when this bug appeared, as I do not remember having this problem in my first career (the only other one I've actually had a Type IX in), but then again that was many months ago and I lost my Type IXB on my first patrol with it (an Operation Drumbeat patrol to the US coast) and I'm not sure I got off enough shots to even need to reload from the stern externals.

I'm running GW now, and I have to put a bunch of people into my bow compartment before it will let me bring the stern externals aboard the boat. Once I do that it at least lets me go ahead and bring them aboard though - I haven't had it give me a time and then not count it down or eventually bring them on board, so I'm not sure what that part of the problem might be.

Yes, never did an IXB career before. I have SH3 Commander 2.5, RuB 1.45z, IXD2 battery fix, NYGM crew management mod, and a few other mods installed.

I am currently about half way through this first patrol. Used up almost half my torpedoes though It looks as if I will need all my torpedoes.

Hard to sink those C2s, they just won't go down with one eel.

FYI, the IX-D2 Range a Torpedo Fix is not compatible with RuB (at least it has not been tested), since the torpedo part of the fix messes with basic.cfg (IXD/2 part only). In my release thread, I asked for a basic.cfg of RuB but no-one didn't bother to answer.

It has nothing to do with the IXB boat, but it might affect you, since if you installed it last, you have the stock game's basic cfg. I suggest the following:

0) Finish current mission return to port, save & exit
1) Roll back SH3Cdr
2) Disable via JSGME the torpedo fix. Then:
3)Open basic.cfg with Notepad or any other text editor
4) Search for ;[SUBMARINE_AMMO10];IXD2
5). Change to:

;[SUBMARINE_AMMO10];IXD2
[SUBMARINE_AMMO9]

6) go to /.../MODS/IX-D2 Range.../cfg/ and delete basic.cfg
7) Enable with JSGME the Fix again.

8) [Not essential] Dowload the Real Battery Life for RuB
http://www.subsim.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=49412

If this doesn't fix your problem, it's another mod.

Also, via SH3Cdr select the No fatigue option and see what happens. (do this first). If it fixes your problem, then it's either
the NYGM fatigue, or an old Holywood fatigue that does the trick.

Which othter mods do you have?

Problem solved I loaded the career, I tried to move the torp, at first, it did not work, then I had men reloading the bow tubes after a successful attack, I was reloading bow tubes. Then fired stern tubes, then had men in both bow and stern torpedo compartments. Now, for some reason, I was able to move the stern external torp.... :hmm:

Don't know why or how it worked, but it did.

thanks VH for the advice....

I haven't run into any problems with the IXB and external torps, although I do generally tend to fully expend my internals before loading externals.

With the weather as bad as it is as often as it is, and since I never bring in the externals if the winds are over 5 m/s, I tend to bring them on board whenever and as soon as I get the chance. It does seem like I get this problem more often though when I try to bring in the stern externals before I have finished bringing in the bow externals
