Default funnel smoke

Why is it that smoke begins black, then turns white....kinda kills the immersion, as the first sign of a ship is the smoke.....

Is there a fix to this??

There is a bug ( and a fix) if you are getting light grey or white smoke. But black smoke is normal. Old WW1 ships had boilers that left a smoke trail for miles. However technology improved by WW2 and reduced the amount of soot , which makes it black.

From what your saying it sounds normal. :hmm:

Try the 61.77 drivers for your FX5200 video card.

You know, this feature definitely needs to be implemented in future subsims. Currently we tend to see ships & smoke ingame at about the same time, even though actual sub crews seem to have relied on smoke columns to lead them to ships. If you look at Uboat.net you may notice that many of the ships lost were steamers that would have emitted large amounts of smoke. Even taking into account how common steam engines were, the loss rate was probably disproportional.

When it's ready

It's still a mod in progress many of us are waiting for. Long progress, mind you - we've been waiting for months already
