Default SH commander question

the water fog level, when i change that, i'm guessing it substitutes it's own looking water. using rub/beery water mod, if i decrease the murkiness will i get that default glowing water at night again?

I think the default value of the game is "4" - dont remeber the default value of RuB.
Just try: IMO RuB is realistic but I like to see more - external camera is just for eye candy and I like the underwater effect oft the moving light. SH3 is too bright. For me a value of "8" works fine...
For changing this value you dont have to stay in port - so go and tune!

The glowing water is a property of the skycolors file. When you adjust the underwater fog level it has no effect on the water glow. If I recall correctly, the standard game's fog setting is 18.

From memory, I decreased the water fog level (using SH3 Commander) to 12 or 13. One question though: does this have any impact on making the night sky darker? In my current patrol, even with the lights out in my home office, I have a tough time making out targets at night... the sky just seems a lot darker than in previous patrols. But then maybe it's old age......

The sky colours were changed in RUb 1.43 to be lighter, but also the water was changed to be darker for an overall darker night.
