Default Tonnage Variation

Does anyone know what file in Silent Hunter III is responsible for the tonnage variation between ships of a given class? I know that you edit files in data\sea\[unit] to change the base tonnage, but this isn't really satisfying since the changes are applied to every unit of the class.

As far as I can tell it's hardcoded. Worse, I think it's in one of the SF protected files.

That's too bad. An idea of what the relevant files are?

I've looked through just about every file I could think of, including the files in the ship folders. But I wonder, on second thought if it could be in the *.dsd file. Here's a snipit:

Code:
000011F0 0000003F 71000000 57656967 6874000B •••?q•••Weight••
00001200 00000057 65696768 7400CDCC 4C3E0E00 •••Weight•••L>••
00001210 00005661 72696174 696F6E00 CDCCCC3D ••Variation••••=
Someone better at this hex stuff than I would have to figure it out though. I don't see any reference to the *.cfg file, but who knows?
