Default Worth Picking up 3?

Hey all so I have recently been loving playing silent hunter 4, so much so that I ended up making a separate install to play the dark waters mod as well. Playing that got me thinking though, is it worth picking up silent hunter 3? Do you guys think it offers enough more then the modded uboat gameplay in 4 to justify picking it up? Also I have a fairly modern machine, 2k monitor windows 10 etc., how hard would it be to get it to run on my machine given how old it is?

I would say if are wanting full Uboat experience, yes, worth it. They can do things in SH 3 can't do in SH 4. The amount of amazing mod work done on SH 3 still blows my mind. There hardcode fixes etc not present in SH 4.

Graphics upgrades are just impressive as well.

Far as getting it to run on windows 10, sure its doable, but not sure about SH 3.

While the SH4 u-boat mods are nice work, modded SH3 does a better job covering the topic.
I.e., the SH4 mods don't have wolfpacks, a key item. While there is room for improvement with it in SH3, modded SH3 at least does have them occasionally.

yes, you can get SH3 running on a new machine and with mods, it will look halfway decent.

but personally, if you are getting into a new subsim, I would check out "Wolfpack" which is now my fav subsim.
