Default Google and new regulation

I wasn't aware but it seems that when you use google, personal info is being sent to News Media, this may only concern Australians but thought I'd mention it here in case it effects others (or other countries).
Talk about "Big Brother watching"!!

Data collection, personal information of various search engine companies, authorities has been going on for many years. Some of these sell this on to another party. In addition, the authorities also want to know what habits and what you visit, the companies on their part then want to adapt to direct hard marketing to the user, however, there are methods to hide their presence and basically "sweep" the tracks away from their own activity, and thus you and others hide your activity on clearnet. No more "big brother watching".

Even a VPN is not all that really secure:

What VPNs Do and Don’t Do

Usually, when a VPN routes your traffic through a server, the connection is encrypted, meaning that only you and the server can decrypt the traffic. This can be useful in a lot of situations—like when you’re using public WiFi—because it means that no one, from your Internet service provider to the network owner to any hacker can see any of the information you send over the network.

What a VPN doesn’t do is protect you from insecure websites (websites without a security certificate). A VPN doesn’t protect you if you submit information to an unencrypted site or accidentally download malware. In short, a VPN protects you in transit from one site to the next but can’t protect you from any actions you take at your destination site.
