I didn't know they had tolls on the Golden Gate Bridge ... they never show the toll booths in any pictures. Are they on just one side or both sides?
Surely the toll is just to pay for the maintenance of the bridge, because the bridge would've been paid for or a long time by now. ![]()

I remember seeing a photo from Ansel Adams with the subtitle Golden Gate and thinking, hmmm, it is missing something. Then realized the bridge has the name the area.

The construction of the bridge was also the beginning of the imposition of strict safety rules on construction sites. Joseph Strauss, Chief Engineer for the GG Bridge project was a stickler for safety and, because of it, many lives were saved that might have otherwise been lost; the Golden Gate is a very rugged and hostile place when it came to the idea of building the span; growing up in San Francisco, there were many stories in the press and, later, on TV about the building of the Bridge...
