Anyone else sunk themselves?
I just did
Fired my mk48 from about 1.5k yards away and lost the wire immediately. Tried to get clear but the torp locked on to me after the Delta dropped a noise maker. |

Yes indeed! The addition of safeties for such a scenario would be nice.

Didn't yet happen to me because I don't go over 10 knots when wire-guiding a torpedo, but you can easily sink yourself if you set the torpedo to a very close enemy and then your wire breaks, you have no more control and your torpedo may catch you after turning from a noisemaker.
For the torpedo a target is just a target... Better question is: Are you so good to make the enemy run in its own torpedo? A MOSS in the right direction can do some miracles ! Last edited by XenonSurf; 11-14-17 at 02:40 PM. |

Mk-37 and 10 knots.. A grim story indeed.

I haven't had the experience of being chased by a Mk48 yet. But don't doubt I will at some point during my play time.

I, too have thought of and wondered about that. That would be very welcome realism addition -- adding safeties, if it doesn't add too much weight and complexity to the game. That said, I've learned, for the most part, how to not sink my own sub -- happened twice. D'oh.

Well... not _sunk_, but I did manage to turn straight into the Mk37 I launched at speed...

I got detected and had a lot of those nasty rocket launched torpedoes heading my way so I desperately threw out a Moss and dived. For a few minutes I thought I had no chance, but then I saw what was happening.. The Moss was heading back towards the fleet and all 8 torpedoes were following it... I sunk an Akula, an Oscar and damaged a Kiev... and all I fired was a Moss. It was epic |
