Ahoi everyone,
I am playing a campaign with GWX mod enabled and I am somewhere in 1940 by now. During my last mission, I received continuous radio messages about the battle around Narvik in Norway, with the first messages even asking all submarines in the area to participate. I was a bit far away from Narvik, but I still drove there at full speed in order to participate. However, once I arrived, I did not see a single ship along the Norwegian coast. Therefore, I wanted to ask if such historical battles, and especially the ones reported in the radio, are actually simulated in SH3 or not... because I do not want to spend half of my fuel for nothing a second time. Second, are there any general rules about at what distance a merchant can spot a submarine on the surface, at what distance a warship can spot a submarine on the surface, how deep I have to go in order to not be found by a destroyer anymore, etc.? At the moment, I am using SH3's help function that displays my visbility/audibilty, but I would like to turn that off. Lastly, is there a good system to rest the officers? I can easily have the normal sailors work in two shifts, because there is enough of them, but there is only one officer for each post... so especially the three officers in the central room, I am hardly ever able to have them rest without losing major functions of the boot (change speed, etc.). Thanks! |

As I recall it GWX has lot historical battles scripted in it. You just have to be in the right place at right time.
What comes to spotting distance I recomend at least 8 km during day and night time you can crawl inside 1 km range. Install SH3 Commander and enable no fatique option. Eventually you will get bored of moving those sailors back and forth...

It's compatible with minor changes to SH3C. There is a program to do that for you. However I'm ex GWX current NYGM user so you'll have to trust goodwill of other forum members...

That's the one you need to make SH3C compatible with GWX...

Well if you want Historical Battle check out WAC 4.1. Check the manual there is tons of historical battles.
War Ace Campaign is a super mod for SilentHunter3. The mainpart consists of a huge modified campaign that had been developed and improved over the past 18 months. The campaign contains supposably the most detailed campaign of the supermods regarding historical events of the sea war during world war II. Over the war years there are more than 45 events offered to the player in which he can take part. Mehr Infos: http://war-ace-campaign.webnode.at/ |
