Default 'Control Ship' in GWX3 ?

Came across one of these in 1941, just north of Londonderry.

It was illuminated fore and aft by two tall 'mast-like' structures and had lights showing amidships. Completely stationary.

The 'Ship Spotted' alert identified it is a 'Control Ship'. Have never come encountered one of these before, in years of playing SH3.

The other funny thing is that I could not 'lock-on' and get a firing solution.

Not that I would have sunk it ; just really curious about what exactly it was.

Its got me. .

most likely a light ship. They were basically lighthouses on the water for areas that needed dead reckoning.

There are quite a few lighthouse ships in GWX.

They are stationary and enviromental objects - like houses in harbours. You can't sink them afair.
Your conning crew can't spot them and your Uboat could ram them by chance, but they allways have a second real ship around - to be spotted by your crew.

Default Oh! that makes sense

Thanks for that bstanko6 ; that is what it must be.

Just never seen one before.

Never going to go 'ahead flank' at any lighthouse/ship.

Cheers mate.

Not only can you not sink them, but your crew can't spot them either. Any time you see one there will be a tug nearby acting as a tender. That's what your crew spots.
