Default best place to buy SH4 + general question

Question Answered. Thanks!

hello all o7

the silent hunter series always caught my eye when i was younger but never got into it. recently i decided to give things ago. I had gotten SH3 on steam during a sale for super cheap and have been playing with it + GW3 + huge list of other mods and have been enjoying it for the most part.

i recently watched some SH4 videos on youtube and was really impressed with the changes made and workings with mods like TMO. Then the added uboat missions and i believe atlantic campaign (mod?) it sounds great.

so my question is this:
1) am i going to get enough of a gameplay enjoyment boost for the $20 to 'upgrade' from SH3 --> 4? I understand there is a difference in sandbox style open-ness but SH4 does look impressive.

2) If yes; where is the best place to buy it? is Steam version ok or do i need to find the gold box on amazon or something for example? ive read that a lot of the download versions dont have the proper patch version incoporated (1.4 or 1.5) and dont want to get screwed over on my purchase if that is the case.

thank you!

(ps...if you have a recommendation on best place to buy it for price or know someone selling a used copy id be more than happy to take suggestions. Grad student living on loans atm and the wife wont justify another video game purchase most likely lol)
