Quick question battlestations?

What are precisely battlestations in sh5? I understand the meaning but i don't know what they do when activated. I read for example that when making deck gun automatically shoot you have to activate bs before.. Why?

Hi HL

From my experience battle stations has no effect on the game.

With regards to the Deck Gun it is important to use the Watch the Watch Officer 1st 1con on the right and click on battle stations to start and then click on battle stations to finish.

If you do not do this your deck gun will be left at its last firing angle even if you straighten it manually.

Clicking off the battle stations icon automatically straightens the deck gun to its correct forward position.
