SHO Someone smarter then me.

Hello everyone I am new to the site. I made my donation and it opened a world of cool stuff to download for my SH5. However here is where it gets interesting, nothing seems to work. Now I am blaming me because I am a nub to this download stuff. Can someone please help me. I have downloaded the JSGME and from what I can gather you put the DL files in this and it makes magic, But no magic for me Oh ya I'm running the 1.2 version of SH5

Did you install JSGME in the sh5 folder? So if you were to go to where its installed and look in the files where the sh5.exe is you see a folder called MODS The JSGME.exe and JSGME cfg file?

Sounds like you got it right on the spot there. Now when you open the JSGME.exe it will list the mods you have installed in the mods folder that should also be in the main folder of sh5. So it be something like C/.....silenthunter5/MODS. To have the mods in there you have to first extract them into the mods folder. So for example one mod I have is the sh5_7A_Conning_fix. What you would do is unzipped it to the mods folder. You want to make sure the folder you unzip from the zip file has the data folder in it. You do that by right clicking it and tell it to open the archive with what zipping program you have like winzip, 7-zip, winrar. So you be looking for something like this where SH5_7A_Conning_fix/Data If you see that then unzip the SH5_7A_Conning_fix to the Mods folder. Reason you should look in the zip is sometimes you have modders that place more then one folder in it like the NewUIs_TDC_7_5_0_TheDarkWraith_test_version_18. You have to go a bit farther in.

Also have a look at this thread as well: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=211804

In order to help further we need to get a bit more information on the current status of what you did. Can you give a description of what files you put in which folders? Perhaps even show us screenshots of how the folder-structure looks in the SH5 game folder. A picture says more than a thousand words.

I noticed you used the word "file" or "files" in ways to describe both a file and a folder/directories. The confusion is understandable considering the icon images that are likely shown in your OS. Folders/directories are the containers of files and other sub-folders/sub-directories. The things you download from the internet are files. But in the case of mods, these can sometimes be compressed collections of files (which then look like folders in your OS). So it is important to be carefull about the words you choose.
