Default Hello everyone!

Hi, I just recently bought the game and wanted to greet my fellow U-boaters But i have a problem - I installed the GWX and Magui mod. After i installed the UI mod my sub apperance on the nav map and TDC map disappeared. It's a bit hard for a noob like me to play without it. Also spotted contacts on large zoom appear but when i zoom in everything disappears. I also noticed that there are no tooltips when I hover the mouse over buttons. Mayby it's some filtering graphics problem? I don't know, please help.

Welcome Pruciak, always good to see another Kaleun join the U-Waffe

Maybe someone might have some more specific advice (and more useful) but I'm pretty sure the MaGUI mod removes your boat from the nav map (I have my own mini mod that does the same). Contacts, the same (though I believe that's GWX). I'm not too sure about the tool tips but I belie that's intentional too.

I'd probably suggest that you don't play with the GUI enabled till you get more familiar with the game. There's loads of great threads here to get you up to speed on things like manual targetting and everything else under the sun. So you can move to 100% realism (and beyond) as quickly or slowly as you like! If you have any questions, just ask away.

Good hunting, and be more aggresive

Could you please tell me what is the maximum range that i should engage ships? Or should I allways sneak up on them and then attack at close distance? Also if i have no contacts on map how can i mark them to calculate their speed?

That's why I was saying to turn contacts back on... I'm pretty sure that can be done in realism settings in game. It can be done without it, but I would generally advise walking before you can run.

This is a very useful sticky thread that should answer plenty of your questions or provide links to useful threads. The answers to your above questions are definitely there

Torpedoes have a arming distance of around 300M, any closer than that and they just bounce off the hull. I try to stay at a distance of 800M or farther from my target. Any closer than that, and you risk damage/destruction of your boat from a explosion of your target.

Welcome Aboard!

Welcome Aboard

Arming distance for eels is 300m, the exception being Falke 400m.
