Miyagi prefecture was one of the areas badly hit by the 2011 tsunami, so the people of the area will certainly have listened to the tsunami warning that the quake triggered, although the trauma of going through the 'quake and subsequent warning must have brought back a few horrific memories for them.

As strange as it may sound, this could well have been an aftershock from last years quake, it's in the same area and that area is going to be weak for years to come.
