Ahoy
![]() after a few years of not playing subsims I would like to come back but I am not sure which version of silent hunter is right to me. During time of SH2 and Destroyer Command I was working as battle reporter and modder and mission writer for SH3 and liked the game very much. Sorry to say my collector edition of SH4 was never installed and many reports of SH5 bugs and the problem of having to be allwas online was a no go to me. Meanwhile there is an offline option, some patches and many mods. So what version to use - SH4 or SH5 ? ![]() What I like is realism, good instrumentation, grafik and sound spending my time in preparing an attack and sneeking on some convoy. What I don't want is an arcade shooter and too much time to spend on crew management. Multiplayer is not important for me as long as there is no captain on a surface vessel as in the old days of SH2 and DC. What is your advice ![]()

They are so cheap to buy now so I'd suggest you purchase them both.

No SH3?
![]() Only you can tell what's best for you, they're so cheap now it'd be daft to plump for one when it could be the other you would've preferred. If you purchase through the Subsim link - http://www.subsim.com/store.html - then this site gets a percentage and costs you nothing extra. ![]()

Thanks for your answers...
forgott to mention SH3 and corrected / edited it in my first post. It is not the problem to buy the games and if bought the collectors edition of SH4 when it hit the stores... I would like not to loose a weekend or two by installing, trying mods and get experience for a few days in both versions. If anyone played and modded both version your opinion and advice is very welcome.

Well I've played them all both unmodded and modded but honestly, what I like, realism for example may not be as high up your list if your more into graphics or sounds for example.
Stick em all in your machine and run a mission or two and you'll soon decise what floats your boat best. |
