Default newbie in training!

Greetings and to all! I remember playing SH a long time ago. I think when I was operating win 98. So I got searching the other day for subsims and came across this website. (Which is awesome btw) I've ordered the combo SH 2 & 3 from here for win XP, and Fast Attack which is still DOS ugh.

So, I've been reading through some of the posts in the forums and don't find much about sh II. Which is the game I intend on starting (again) with.

I guess I should ask you seasoned sims a few core questions. like...
1) Will these progs run without probs on win vista? Perhaps select compatability mode for win xp?
2) Should I play without mods for awhile?
3) Fast Attack.. how do I set that up?
4) I know that knowing what the keys do is most important in playing the games. Will I have complete keyboard shortcuts listed somewhere in my install documentation? Or can I find that stuff here someplace?
5) Which mods are best for each of the games?

I got an email saying my games have shipped. I can't wait to start a new carreer. Since I'm a trucker though, they probably wont arrive before I ship out again.. dang it. Anyway thanks in advance to you guys.

I would say play a carrer without mods, then install GWX gold 3.0, and after that SH3 Commander.

I use windows 7 so idk, but I dont think so.

PS

Woulda been easier to get it on steam, no delivery.

I run SH3 on Vista just fine. Do not install it in the default Program Files folder. Make one labeled Ubisoft, or whatever you wish outside of the Program Files folder, and install it there. The UAC in Vista, and Windows 7, monitors the Programs Files folder and makes modding SH3 a nightmare.

It's just his goofy keyboard. That's actually a Swedish 'A' as in he thinks you're a grade 'A' kind of guy...

Just kidding, welcome aboard Hans!

Ahoy HW3!! Thank you for the reply and awsome tip. I've for sometime been in the habit of Installing stuff in my own directories! Rebel that I am, I learned to keep things where I know they are, not where windoze wants them. So SH3 will reside in my Games folder with a sub folder all it's own. Or perhaps Games/subsims/ ...

Thanks for your suggestions. I think probably I'll do just that.
As for your PS 1) I don't know steam. 2) My purchase thru this website gave them a little bit of cash. I might not be able to send any $ atm, but I did what I could that way. And again, thank you for the suggestions.
