I managed to sink HMS Nelson! my first EVER encounter with a battleship

Just thought I would share the fantastic news of me managing to sink HMS Nelson the other night. He was a tough lad,it took 4 to stop him at which point he was sitting low in the water and starting to capsize to his portside. He needed a 5th torpedo to send him to the bottom. And the real special thing about this sinking was that he was part of a 20 ship convoy and sat bang in the middle on the 3rd lane.I attacked the convoy by shadowing for about 6 hours, moving in from the rear at night, dropped my draught to 7m and parked myself about 500m alongside him,and none of the lambs saw me,it was a textbook attack and I was really proud of myself, although I did feel bad for sinking him in the end,but I could hardly let him slip by without a fight
33.000 tonnes from the Nelson gave me a very respectable 60.000 tonnes to that particular patrol, with 10 merchants sunk, and a Knights Cross second class.Odd,I was expecting the top medal for this audacious attack,in fact I was actually expecting Doenitz to step down and place me at the helm of the KM hehehe.
Every torpedo and every round of HE ammo was used on that patrol.
I took a few screenshots of the event and will post them in the near future.

Cheers you two, really was a very tense and exciting moment, gave me an ever greater appreciation for the game now,and here we are at times, thinking its a tedious experience with the odd lone merchant now and again, sinking that bad boy was epic!

Hey Brag, did you REALLY do all that? (below) if so,wow
If not, what a great imagination you have, like myself hehehe

Excerpt from Amazon's website highlighting your book:

'Alexey Braguine flew for a CIA secret airline in Laos, chased elephant poachers in Kenya, led horseback tours into the Chilean Andes. The explosive pages of his novels reveal not only a vivid imagination, but the experience gathered in a thriller life'

You're a cool guy mate

Default Evidence of Nelson's demise

Well here we have evidence of Nelson's demise together with a few
other random scenes from that patrol.

The first cargo ship of Nelson's convoy hit by 2 torpedoes. You can just make out Nelson in the next lane in the middle.

To the bottom he goes

Here he is! HMS Nelson in all his glory

Here he was struggling after taking 4 right along the length of his portside. The really sad thing about this engagement (for me that is) was the small and ONLY escort ship of this convoy,he wouldnt leave Nelson's side and stayed with him for a good 2 hours circling trying to find me.When the escort finally gave up I wheeled around for the killer blow.

A small fire erupts on his bow

He is going down, albeit VERY slowly

Almost 2 hours later and Nelson is miraculously still afloat.I had to put a 5th into the poor fellow and he exploded in a most dramatic fashion.

U-54 returning after a magnificent patrol.I think the boys will spend the rest of December at home, they have deserved it.

You know those ladies are in for a good time

Tonnage results.

This one is for you Jim,your proof of Nelson's demise

My growing (well, almost) collection of medals

Hope you appreciate the pictures as much as I enjoyed making them.

Looks like one heck of a patrol! Cheers and have one on me, mate. You earned it!

One question though: those flags on your periscope, for all your kills, is that a mod? I've never seen it in game, I think...

There we go mate,have fun
It might be a good idea to also print the readme so you have a reference to the new key commands to raise lower the pennants, flag,RDF antenna etc

Thanks, those flags would look cool on my boat too!

<--- How do I get rid of this "Wild night in Bangkok" thing? Just keep posting, I suppose... A cruel joke by Onkel Neall, I think.
