German responses

Hi All
I have used the search engine but cannot find what I am looking for...maybe I am an idiot and just not using it correctly.
I want to change the American voices responses "Yes Captain..ahead full" etc to the German equivalent.

Is there a way to do this?

In the main menu, where you chose career, scenarios etc etc, there is an options button, click that to change language from English to German.

No good, went to the screen.
I get the option to change the text language to english, German, French etc
But the voices one is blank and offers no option. The keyboard option is also empty.

Any other suggestions??

Are you mid patrol?

A lot of options can't be changed during a patrol.


It looks like the main menu screen though...

Other than that, I got not nuttin.

Yes I am mid patrol..never thought of that.

I expected to be able to just load it

I will try that when I go back to port and post on my findings...however, if it is that easy then I apologise for wasting everyones time

Okay, so I started a new life, went out of port, came straight back in, went to options and the options for language is still blank...so it is not a mid patrol issue.

Is there a file I can adjust in the main CFG file or something?

Yes, I looked at the files in question awhile ago.
I forget what I saw that may solve your issue but I'll look again and get back ASAP.

Are you useing a Stock SH3 or have mods installed?

I am originally using SH3 stock but now have upgraded to GWx Gold.

GWX 3 (Or Gold, both are the same thing) should allow this change.
Any Mods installed on top of GWX?

Try this, courtesy of UBI forums:

I think it's possible to manually change the voice setting by editing the main.cfg file in your career folder (My Documents>SH3>data>cfg>main.cfg)

Open this file in Notepad and check the value for 'VoicesLanguage':

[SETTINGS]
LoadingMovie=No
VoiceCommand=No
DisableMessages=No
EventCamera=Yes
TextsLanguage=0
VoicesLanguage=1 <- '1' is German, '0' is English.
KeybLanguage=0

However, if there is a problem with your sound files, your game might still crash! If so, you may need to try re-installing.

Yes I have other non GWX mod and some GWX mods in it too.

If the other cfg option does not solve the issue I will try unmodding and see if that works.

I can confirm that this option works for the English to German speech
