Default Question about Radio Messages

Does anyone else have it when you load a save game in which you'd previously gotten radio messages, to have them all sent to you again? It's getting really irritating now and I don't know why it happens

Happens to me all the time. Though it usually repeats just the most recent couple of messages, not all of them.

It doesn't bother me that much, so I'm not in any rush to find a fix.

It´s the only annoying bit in GWX . But you can learn a lot of history from the messages.

Default curious

I thought the messages were timed based on date and hour.

In real life, messages were repeated because there was a good chance a sub was submerged and would have missed it while below.

If you are getting repeat messages on the same day - don't worry - just the above situation.

You don't find the unrelenting "Ship Spotted" annoying?

It's one of the game's flaws that the last several messages repeat when you reload a saved game. The only fault of GWX in that respect is the amazing number of messages, and I don't find that a flaw at all.

Tedious, but you are being told that you risk drowning your deck crew and foundering the boat.

I wish SH3 modeled the real-life danger. A few 1WOs washed overboard and a flooded control room would excite a whole new chapter on tactics.

No wonder the guy doesn't get up there himself after surfacing. He's scared to death each time of drowning.

Messages in the messages_en file are in the format: 19390815 1300 19390815 1500 1 100 20 @FdU@^All U-boats^1939/08/15|6th Flotilla is ordered to end firing practice and return to Kiel.

This means that the message will be sent between 1300 on 15 Aug 1939 and 1500 on 15 Aug 1939.

When I wrote my messages mods I had to scrub every single line of the messages_en file as there were a few errors in the stock file. A simple typo (such as 19390815 1300 19400815 1500) would mean the message is transmitted every time you load a game between 15 Aug 1939 and 15 Aug 1940.

If the problem happens again let me know what the message is (and what version of SH3 you're using) and I'll chase down the error.

I have noticed this a few times myself. It seems that if you load a game you will get all that days messages replayed to you.
