Default Dissapearing Depth Charge problem (Cont)

So I figured out what happening to the DC's they dont "dissapear" at a certain depth rather, but explode and then there is no explosion shown under the water. I have GWX 3.0 and SH3 Commander installed. as well as maybe a few other mods, id have to check. Any ideas why this would be happening guys?? Id really like to get the actual explosions back in the game because I like watching them under water.

In real life, there would be no explosion to view. I mean, there's no fire and flame or anything.

What do you expect to see?

Sorry, that sounds snarky. There's a good article on the physics of depth charges here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Depth_charge

What kills you is the sudden and rapid changes in pressure in the water around you. This is exactly, by the way, why a magnetic torpedo, exploding under a hull, is far more effective than an impact shot.

I have no clue. I don't use external view while I'm on patrol.

Truthfully, I don't know anything about the DC's in GWX.
Most of the things like that were in GWX before I ever stumbled along.

I've had no problems viewing the DC explosions underwater. The DC sinks, air bubbles stream and then boom! you get the detonation and an animation of an underwater explosion, which forms a gaseous globe which lasts for a brief period and then disperses.

Well does any one know what file would have the explosion coded in or what not?

The DC 'exploding' view should be viewable whilst using the external view.

At what depth are you experiencing this phenonema?

DepthCharges.sim in the Library folder.
under_explosion is the section that calls the effect.
Effect is C2 3D AD 0C 3A FB 66 20
That will be located in the particles.dat which will also lead to Materials.dat.

GWX file size = 437 bytes (When you right click and check properties)
GWX file date is 1/10/2008

Any depth, I noticed that the explosion registers and it registers on the top of the surface. but for some reason, it wont show an explosion underwater.

See #9 above from privateer...have a look, it is possible you have a corrupt file or something else installed that has overwritten it.
