Currently in patrol with 2nd flotilla,August 1939,type VIIb u-boat.
When the flotilla changes to type IX's,will I have the option keeping my type VIIB,or will I be forced to take command of a type IX? Provided I live that long,of course. Thanks, Chris |

I don't think you are ever forced to change boats

No you do not have to give up your boat.
However a Type IX will set you back in renown.

The only difference should be you are given the opportunity to change if you so wish.

You can keep your boat, but if you remain in the 2. Flotilla expect to be assigned patrol grids that are more suited to a Type IXB or IXC. The shorter range of a VIIB will eventualy become a problem.

That's why I would recommend changing the patrol grid if commander is being used.

@U777
The patrol grid is changable with, or without, commander. That aside, why not just get the right boat for the flotilla, or conversely, the right flotilla for the boat? |

Actually the Type VII is always available as a starting boat from 2nd Flotilla, so there is no chance you will be asked or told to give it up.
