You can keep your boat, but if you remain in the 2. Flotilla expect to be assigned patrol grids that are more suited to a Type IXB or IXC. The shorter range of a VIIB will eventualy become a problem.

That's why I would recommend changing the patrol grid if commander is being used.

The patrol grid is changable with, or without, commander. That aside, why not just get the right boat for the flotilla, or conversely, the right flotilla for the boat? |

Actually the Type VII is always available as a starting boat from 2nd Flotilla, so there is no chance you will be asked or told to give it up.
