Default Charting the Kiel Canal...

...second mission, is there an option to chart the Kiel Canal as there was in SH3? How do I do this?

Not that I know of. You have to do it manually AFAIK.

In GWX they remapped one of the searchpatterns to put you through the Kanal. Sadly, I haven't found any patterns in SH5 yet.

you have to do it manually.. at least for now. its almost faster to go around. not really. but you have a choice between 200 way points for a short trip or 7-8 & +1 day to get around.

Isn't it funny how people attribute things that were introduced in GWX to stock SH3? I guess it shows how much of an impact GWX had on the game - people don't even remember the stock game without it. I sure don't.

Yea plotting through that canal is a pita probably like 30 waypoints or something. It would be sweet if you could have a 'saved' course plot.

On a side note have you heard your navigator say "We have reached the last waypoint, shall I plot a new course? Perhaps a search pattern?" Which is kind of funny because I'm outside my home port.... I think he is being a smart ass.

It goes to Kiel of cours

Its just west of Kiel and cuts through the land so you dont have to sail way the heck up north. You have to zoom the map in pretty far before you can see it.

The Kiel Canal is the natural border between denmark and germany.

It is mostly used in SH5 to get from Kiel to the north sea without having to go around jutland.

GWX was so good that I don't think I knew this didn't come as standard!

And they also don't remember that GWX didn't introduce the Kiel Canal into the game. They used it after it was created, just like the other supermods did. Also, for those who haven't seen it, WAC is the only supermod with the historic bridges over the Canal.

Hah! See, I'm guilty of it too. Had no idea it wasn't a GWX creation.

Not found the search patterns yet
Be easy to make one if do though you only in Kiel a few weeks before move to Wilhelms anyway - As you in the 2nd and only flotilla at game start
Tis odd tho that when you reach end of course in the text box it asks you if you want to plot a search pattern
So where is it ???
Or do it manually

They are left in the files tho date from SH3

Duuh... however, remember to also give the nav officer the ability to actually PLOT them

"We've reached the end of the course. Perhaps a search pattern?". Perhaps Bernard, perhaps, now go back to doing nothing you worthless old man
