Default Charting the Kiel Canal...

...second mission, is there an option to chart the Kiel Canal as there was in SH3? How do I do this?

Not that I know of. You have to do it manually AFAIK.

In GWX they remapped one of the searchpatterns to put you through the Kanal. Sadly, I haven't found any patterns in SH5 yet.

you have to do it manually.. at least for now. its almost faster to go around. not really. but you have a choice between 200 way points for a short trip or 7-8 & +1 day to get around.

Isn't it funny how people attribute things that were introduced in GWX to stock SH3? I guess it shows how much of an impact GWX had on the game - people don't even remember the stock game without it. I sure don't.

Yea plotting through that canal is a pita probably like 30 waypoints or something. It would be sweet if you could have a 'saved' course plot.

On a side note have you heard your navigator say "We have reached the last waypoint, shall I plot a new course? Perhaps a search pattern?" Which is kind of funny because I'm outside my home port.... I think he is being a smart ass.

It goes to Kiel of cours

Its just west of Kiel and cuts through the land so you dont have to sail way the heck up north. You have to zoom the map in pretty far before you can see it.

The Kiel Canal is the natural border between denmark and germany.

It is mostly used in SH5 to get from Kiel to the north sea without having to go around jutland.

You would think the navigator would plot you a course...

It wouldn't be so bad plotting the course to me if the navigator didn't insist on shouting out "new way point" every time you click. Swear I wish there was a slap animation I could do if I walked over to him sometimes.

GWX was so good that I don't think I knew this didn't come as standard!
