Default Check out this earlier UI

Check out this earlier versionof the UI taken from the recently released Terrain editor manual in the SH5 mods section.

Judging by its suggested functionality and the scripting capabilities of our fantastic modders it looks like radial menus may indeed be a possibility.

I see a compass around the minimap. Sigh.

The one thing I truly do miss from the controls is that right there.

It looks a bit like it was "inspired by" PT-Boats knights of the sea ...not the most successful thing to copy.

Kinda cool how the heading indicator was worked into the tactical map (along its edges), but I actually would prefer the sizable tactical map we have now as opposed to that version.

But it would be nice to have a heading indicator (as well as other missing stuff) somewhere in the UI.

Well spotted, I was beginning to wonder that also

I believe that the PT-Boats interface was based upon that found in Battlestatitions Midway. Probably Akella and Ubi are trying to push for a multiplatform design to equal the success Eidos had there, unfortunately it's not really a good fit for SH5 or PT-Boats.
