Default Double Ds on show off Portsmouth

From Bill Nichol's update in the World Naval News

That "whoosing" sound was Dowly clicking madly.

Cool! I love destroyers, even if they're bigger than a WW2 light cruiser.

As John Paul Jones said, "Give me a fast ship, for I intend to go in harm's way."

Is it me or do those ship look top heavy? The ship in the back is really leaning on that turn.

So that's why they call 'em Double Ds.

I honestly thought this was a veiled reference to one of the sailors wives exposing her breasts as the battle group left Portsmouth enroute to the Falklands in 82 because it was filmed and recorded at the time by the BBC.

I was about to post "Ha! a bit late in the day don't you think"

So... how long before Dowly tracks down the video on YouTube?

Place your bets, gentlemen.

No, they're not top-heavy in any way, something that USN ships have historically been notorious for.

Briefly saw Daring on trials off Arran during the famous mile run, though not in an official capacity ("Warship, warship, we are a coastal crabbing boat, pulling in our pots now"...for the next 45 minutes while everyone gets their phonecams out ...and by the way, thanks for not telling us you were going to be fannying about out here) - she is as fast as is needed, and as pretty as she wants to be. At least she doesn't have those horrible 1920s colliery-town chimney pots on top of her stack like the Ticonderogas. Gah! Whoever thought of that idea to knacker a fairly good-looking warship?

EDIT: I should add that there is a reasonably well-known route near the builders mile-run that, if hit juuuust right, will add about an extra 1/2 knot on to the the trials speed of a surface warship...not that BAE or VT (or just about any other shipyard from the last 90 years) would be so unscrupulous to do so, you know...

What the heck? It's been a day and still no one has posted pics of actual "Double Ds" in an attempt at Benny Hill-esqe humor?

I am disappoint.
