Looong time player who never thought of checking online to see if anyone else play'd sub-sim games! Duh.... Boy was I surprised!
Anywho - SH4 with U-Boat pack and am trying to mod for more realism. Downloaded TMO and patch along with RSRD installed witht the mod enabler program and quite frankly I can't notice any difference... Soooo I'm assuming I'm doing something wrong.... Win7 64-bit if it makes any difference. I tried reinstalling SH4 in the "standard" program files dir thinking maybe the locations are hard coded.... Thanks alot in advance! I feel like a partial idiot since I'm a IT guy and can't figure it out! |

Let's just go through the basic use of JSGME (JoneSoft generic mod enabler):
install the program to the game's root-folder. For default installation it's: C:\program files\ubisoft\silent hunter 4 wolves of the pacific It will create a "MODS" folder where you can extract/install your mods to. I think the installer prompts you to name it, or you may need to run the program once for an initial setup (can't remember clearly). The folders inside this mods folder show up in the left pane of JSGME, where you can activate them. Inside one of these folders you should find a folder structure that resembles what you see in the game's root folder; usually it starts with a "data" folder and branches out from there. JSGME basically takes the contents of folders in the MODS folder and copies them into the game's root folder, while backing up files that are being replaced so the game can be reverted to an unmodded state. If you're not using JSGME, you should be. ![]() http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/software/ As far as I know, SH has some issues being installed to the program files folder. Better to use a custom path. I think the issues are related to UAC; you might be able to get away with the default path if you have this disabled (I have this disabled and I use a custom location, so I don't know from experience what these issues might be). Hope that's enough to get it sorted. Welcome aboard. ![]() * ah, and make sure you start out with a not-messed-with install to avoid complications. ![]()

All that is now done.
Also disabled UAC and am running JSGME in XP service pack 2 compatability mode in admistrator mode. When "installing" the mods it puts new folders with mod names in the game root but when I start the game I notice no difference... ARGH ![]() |

\Silent Hunter 4 -\MODS --\TMO folder ---\TMO folder ----\TMO Data Rename the top level TMO folder, and drag that lower level TMO folder to the MODS directory. Delete the now empty renamed folder, and install mod with JSGME. I have to do that almost every time I download a mod. Sometimes I forget, and get what you describe. When you open a particular mod under the MODS directory, you should see the DATA directory, and possibly some documentation. |

Exactly, that's why I mentioned you should find a similar folder structure to the game's root inside a mod folder.
![]() ![]() Note the address at the top: starting out from the root, you go into the MODS folder. There you find a folder with the name of the mod ("OPCF1.3_RFB20_green" in this case). Inside that should be the data that will be placed into the root; typically this is that "Data" folder, because when that gets written to the root, it overwrites the one that's already there. You shouldn't see any changes in the root folder itself, because the modded files are placed in the folder structure that's already present.
