Default South of UK grinds to a halt

It was inevitable, but as usual the slightest bit of snow and this country stops.....

Things are just as bad here, in the North Yorkshire hills.

It took me 4 hours to drive 30 miles on the motorbike yesterday (and I
came off once).

Today I'm not even thinking of going out; it's far worse.

I'm looking for my thermal undies as I type.

The way the weathermen carry in, you'd think it was the apocalypse!

And we go live to our weatherman in the field for an update...

Pfft! As if a Scotsman would complain about the weather!

They take pride in not wearing socks, anything under their kilts and going out in all weather.

I ride one all year and it almost kills me.

Right now I have a slightly boring Honda CBF600 (a naked down-tuned
hornet). Im much more passionate about my former bike; a Honda VFR400.
A real revvy pocket rocket.

I have to say, I don't envy the British. With your single glazed windows and your badly insulated houses where the temperature is turned off at 23 o'clock, I don't miss being there at all.

Your spring and summer time is nice though.

What's the point of having any glazing at all when your place of abode doesn't even have a roof

I have a feeling Alaskans/Canadians/Norwegians/Russians/et al. all laugh at those of us who live in warmer climes who can't stand a little snow on the ground.

Well then you haven't been to Britain, or you are making some attempt at sarcasm.

I'm double glazed all round like most people and have ample heating.

Plus I love driving in snow. My little car gets places where bigger ones don't. As long as you think ahead and know when to go and when to turn back driving in snow isn't a big deal.
