Default I Sank 2 ships but game doesn't say so.

This is efin wierd. I just sank 2 big tankers but the game refuses to say so. I saw the 2 tankers go underwater but i didnt get the tonnage or icon on the map. What the hell?

Are you playing stock or what version or mods are you using?
I haven't had that happen since SH II.

Not good news at all.
This is the first\only time it has happened?
What year and was it a convoy action?

Shallow water problem. It happened to me all the time when harbor busting. The ship doesn't go down far enough to count as a sinking, even though it is sunk.
I caught the Nelson in port one time and did not get credit, it just settled on the bottom and mast was above the water line. All you could see was the Union Jack.

Which port, what year?

I want to try that.

If you don't get credit for sinking them in shallow water, throw an extra torpedo at it.

I recently experience the no-credit thing as well, but for a different reason.

Started a new career, wanted to be at Scapa Flow on the 13th of October, 1939 to sink the Royal Oak. Arrived early on the 12th, shot everything up in the harbor (using Bismarck). Exited to circle the island while waiting out the clock, arrived back on the evening of the 13th - all the ships I had sunk on the 12th had respawned.

Shot them all up again, still no Royal Oak in port - gave up after waiting to see if it would spawn on the morning of the 14th when it was historically sunk by Prien. Nothing showed up I left.

But anyways, I only got credit for the first sinkings as I was on the same mission. Why they respawned I don't know, but didn't get anything extra for my efforts.

BTW cawimmer430, there's alot of good stuff in and around Scapa in Sept-Oct '39.

1939
Base: Königsberg
Grid: AO98

kdv i couldn't hit them with more torpedoes, my torpedoes ran out. Used 4 torpedoes for one merchant, strong guy. Another 3 on a tanker etc. Deck gun ammo was also out, my crew misses alot ...

Default sinking credit

Not sure about this part...but I had that happen before too in shallow water. Every time I sink a ship I go to the Radioman and send a report. I get a report back stating "Good work! Blah, blah, blah". When that happens my credit appears on the Captains log. Funny thing is that the sunken ship icon does not appear (shallow waters), but I have the kill and receive the renown when the patrol is over. This has happened to me twice. I am not saying sending the report will fix it, but for me, it seems to work. Might be a dilly of a coincidence, but twice under the same circumstances might make it a likely "fix".

Now another thing too is that I also used my deck gun and shot the flag off on one of those occasions. Then the red icon appeared on the map. I see this out in deep water where the icon will appear before the water is over the gunwales, so not sure if the shallow water situation is an issue. Anyway...I haven't run into the problem of no credit for kills since I report every sinking just after it happens. Just something I noticed....

I started new campaign - 1939 - Königsberg. The game sent me on the same grid - AO98. There were same ships at same location. (Hello dynamic campaign?). Anyways i sank all the ships this time successfully so guys dont bother trying to recreate it. Maby it was just a bug or something?

Everything has to be written into one of the campaign layers. Take a look at the Mission Editor to see just how much work is actually involved before you criticize. All convoys are part of the Random layer. They follow the same routes but the size and composition of the convoy is randomized.

The Harbor traffic (which you encounter if you raid a harbor - something, by the way, that was only done twice during the entire war) has to scripted in, one ship at a time. It will vary just a little as some ships are written to change, but even that is mostly in friendly ports. That layer of the campaign is not dynamic, nor was it ever meant to be. In the stock game there are no ships in any enemy ports.

No criticism on my part at all, it's perfectly understandable for what happened in my situation. Was merely testing to see if what I thought was a pretty 'special' event of WW2 naval combat was included.

I couldn't be more happy or grateful to all the people who have made this game what it is!

'Bout the throwing another torpedo at it - was just an idea to completely 'destroy' the ship, sometimes a ship will slowly sink until something stops it (damage crew or the seabed), and until enough 'hit-points' are accumulated, there's no credit for the kill. But yeah - it's tough luck when you have none left eh ?
