The end of any war has got to be really confusing. One minute, you put your entire existence into destroying an enemy, and then with a swoosh of a pen, it's game over and you're supposed to make nice.

I think on the same website there is a few articles of a few U-Boats that didn't or refused to surrender that easily...
![]() I remember a story in Readers Digest years and years ago of a U-Boat sailing into a small quiet harbor in either Maine or Nova Scotia, docked on a fishing wharf and surrendered to the town constable. In the story the kaptain had to go into the village to find someone of authority to initiate the surrender. ![]() I guess in both ways surrendering wasn't that easy. ![]() |

I remember the end of the war in my last career. I had essentially lost track of the date and ignored a radio message since I figured it would be the usual "Keep up the good work" pep talk messages from good 'ole Karl.
So while patrolling, I encountered a C-Class Destroyer off the coast of France. I dove immediately to periscope depth and sped to his position. I got really close but he had not detected me yet despite me being at full power. I figured "What the hell", ordered a torpedo attack and sunk him. Then I surfaced and decided it was a good time to check that radio message. Apparently the war had been over for two days now. Whoops. ![]() ![]() |

I have only completed one full (39-45) career and I was rather disappointed that the game just ended after the surrender. I would really have liked to continue the game and follow these orders.
Sailing into a British harbour, defeated but still with honour would have made a better ending then just getting the "lions" message from Unkle. On a historical note, what would have happened to a Kaluen who scuttled his boat?

I do think it was horrible to order the submarine force to fly Black Flags (usually reserved for Pirates)
