Hi all
![]() I have been playing vanilla SHIII for almost a month and finally decided to take the plunge and install the infamous GWX3.0. WOW man, what a difference it makes!! Graphics are much cooler and somehow the mod makes my game run smoother on my laptop!! Thanks GWX team! Anyway my question, How do I install further mods? I got JSGME with the GWX mod, is it a case of downloading the mod, saving it in the MODS folder (folder name of its own) in the SHIII directory and enabling it withing JSGME? Also will I have to abandon my current GWX career for mods to take affect or will the career work with the mods? I am looking to only download a few mods, such as Torpedo damage and life boats. Thanks in advance, Gaz ![]() |

Seems like you've got the right idea already. Just put the mods in the right folder and use the Mod Enabler.
Also, your career will remain intact. I was 9 or 10 patrols in before I went to GWX and some other things. It won't (shouldn't) mess up your career. You should also consider SH3 Commander, if you haven't yet.

Actually, activating a supermod mid-career could potentially corrupt/disturb some things, as GWX changes a lot of things from stock. Just a heads up.
Also, most mods come 'JSGME-ready', which means all you have to do is extract the folders, then put them into your 'MODS' folder.

Sh3Commander gives you the ability to create your own u-boat Kaleun from scratch, update patrol logs after you complete one, and a wide variety of other things. Go to the Sh3Commander sticky in the SH3mods workshop forum, you'll find out everything you need to know.

This isn't a mod, really, but I find loading my gramophone folder with period music really helps the mood of the whole game. It's also nice to stave off boredom when you're striking out on patrol and the TC just doesn't go high enough. There's a good selection of these tunes in the DL section.

Thats a good idea Zilch, Will help to burn up those long uneventful days at sea. Is it just a case of putting them into the gramaphone folder? Do I have to replace the other files and give them the same file name, eg 001, 017, or can I just give them the next number along and they will play?
I have a question about the Q Ship mod, I downloaded the GWX version, but when I enable the mod I cannot load my current career patrol. The game hangs up when the "not so long ago" text appears, disabling the mod allows me to load my save once again. Should this mod be installed before starting a career? |

Cheers for the help and the link, I will try to enable the Qship mod again when I get back to port.
I'm going to pick up the patrol again tomorrow. I have been upping the realism and have been struggling to find my hydrophone contacts (especially in bad weather/at night). In my excitement of actually seeing one of my hydrophone contacts and successfully manually targeting and sinking him, I forgot to check his flag! Turned out he was Greek. Only one torp hit him, which to my despair was enough to sink him! Lesson learned. Can anyone tell me how much renown i'm going to lose for this mistake when I get back to port? Thanks again |

If you wan't to know how much renown a certain ship is worth, you can find that out by opening your C:\programs\ubisoft\silenhunter3\data\sea folder and opening the appropriate ship file.

ALL OF IT!! Doenitz and Hitler will have you shot! (I assume that's what happened to me after I sunk two (2) hospital ships in stormy weather thinking they were troop transports ...... running with their lights on
![]() re: grammophone music. no need to re-name anything, just drag'n'drop it in there and it'll play. I've read that SH3 doesn't like mp3 files, but i've never had any problem with em SINK EM ALL!! ![]()

The most stable format is ogg. vorbis........mp3 have a tendancy to skip and or end half way through the track.

Jim is right. Using MP3 files is a crap shoot. The ogg files are best and avoid a lot of trouble. Use FormatFactory to change the file from MP3 to ogg.
