Would you like similar graphic and dynamic lightning in VIIc interior ?
It is first in-game screen of BoB: Storm of War... being developed at the same time with SHV... Dont you think that VIIc deserves the same visual level ? ![]() Maybe Dx10 or Dx11 ? ![]()

IMHO it would be Asking WAY too much to apply that level of detail to a Uboat interior.
Its fine to model that L.O.D for a dozen small & confined Airplane cockpits, but to do it for 3+ HUGE fully explorable Submarines? Its about 1000 times more work. theres just no way ![]() Im very happy with what we have so far in SHV - besides, other areas of the sim demand more attention anyway. (And you can only stare at a bunch of pretty valves & dials for so long....) |

Also what is the cost of that level of graphics? Does Storm of War have the dynamic campaign that IL2 didn't?

Burning ship in night - should cast "dancing shades" at u-boat fences, wires and deck guns. Just a few visual features - could make SH5 "forever young" in 2011,2012... Nice lighting in that BoB screen. God I've been waiting so long for that game! I don't think we need super realistic detailed dials that we would never really look at in SH5. Not to mention that most probably wouldn't be functional in SH5 anyway. The lighting though, in the sub, I don't think it matters much, but a realistically lit environment would be nice. I want silent hunter to have waves that really glisten. Is it just me or is silent hunter 4 really dark? SH4 forces me to up my brightness/gamma/contrast. No it's not for cheating! It's just impossible for me to see much in that game with my normal display settings. |

Who's flying the plane?
![]() I kinda agree with this, but the main difference between a plane and a u-boat is that in a plane the player spends all his time in the cockpit, thus this level of detail is justified. In a U-boat, the player arguably spends most of his time looking at maps or other 2D screens and only a limited amount of time on the surface. Being able to see reflections off rivets 500 yards away might be very nice, but hardly as essential in a subsim as in a flightsim...imho... |
