Default Long-time lurker, new SH poster...just saying thanks!

So, I didn't happen to see an introduction thread anywhere, and if it's there, I'm gonna blame the lack of a red lamp and say it's my faulty night vision. Anyway, I've been a lurker around these threads (especially SH3, SH4, and DW) for quite awhile, but I'm just now getting into SH3 & SH4. While they both have their charms, I've gotta say, SH3 feels more...atmospheric, and as an added bonus, it runs better on my computer! I grew up with a focus on the War in the Pacific, so I do enjoy SH4 a lot, but SH3 is really making me stop and take a closer look at the war in the Atlantic. It even inspired me to watch "Das Boot" for the first time about a week and a half ago. I know, I know....I should've watched it ages ago!

Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks to this community for making me want to take a in-depth look at SH3...when I first picked it up, I tinkered with it, but it just didn't feel...right. Life intervened, and I got away from subsims for awhile. Flash forward to recently, and I discover GWX. Whoa...this definitely ain't the sim I first looked at and dismissed! Thanks for all the helpful answers to questions I didn't even know I had, and thanks to the amazing modding community for giving this great sim a kick into the stratosphere!

I guess my only concern is...with SH5 looming on the horizon, will I be alone in my continued love of SH3 in the near future? I love the idea of an organized, immersive game experience, so groups like WaW for SH3 and SUBSOWESPAC for SH4 really appeal to me, so I'm hoping that these kind of organizations continue to show the SH3/SH4 love for awhile! In order to run SH5, I'm going to need a significant computer upgrade (well, motherboard/CPU, anyway)...so that's a ways off. I'll just keep enjoying SH3 & SH4 for as long as I can, and hopefully, there'll be people out there to enjoy them right along with me.

Thanks for this wonderful community and all the efforts that really add so much to the games!

Welcome aboard Kapt.
You'll be hard pressed to find a better game than SH3+GWX. IMHO no other Subsim game is better, but we have bantered about that topic for a long time......"What ever blows your dress up" so too speak....As long as you enjoy the "Game" and "Subsim" thats all that counts....

Welcome aboard! I'd wager SH3 still has plenty of life left in it. We've yet to see what SH5 brings us, and I suspect that out of the box it won't be as complete as SH3 with GWX is. Until it gets to a comparable point, I think SH3 will be alive and kicking.

Well that all depends on SH5 living up to all the hype and expectaions expressed on subsim forums
We'll wait and see
