Default My first bad patrol or dont make this mistake!

March 29th 1941.

I was sent south down by Capetown west Africa. Why BDU sends me anywhere other than the west of England is beyond me. I hate going south as there seems to be less traffic and more fuel consumption. Finally a small merchant sighted. weather is crap and I cant see the front of my boat but manage to fire an eel into him after the first was a dud.

Large Convoy! Intercept, hit three ships with the first exploding and the other two limping off. Then I come across another convoy when the weather clears.
The escorts spot me but I am under and gone before they can react.

I surface and skip around the outskirts of the convoy at maximum veiwing range and am spotted yet again! Under I go after running didn't help!
Hours go by and these guys just keep nailing me. every time I slip them they re locate and pummel me more. Deeper and Deeper they drive me. Speed reduced to 1 knot and still they re locate and hammer me despite my best efforts. after 6 hours game time I am starting to believe these guys are psychic after slipping away a bit they repeatedly just steamed right at me!

Then it hit me I never rigged for silent.....D'oh!

I fired 4 bow tubes at an escort and missed with a beautiful spread at 300 meters.

RTB with two sinkings, disgusted in my performance but alive.

Nice Attack,
how deep have you gone? I have found out, that in GWX until 1942 the DD's havin' difficults to find you below 180m. Of course I dive not equal to 180 so that remains the fun and excitement of cat and mouse game.

btw, i hate the south Patrols too...

Reminds me of rigging for silent running, taking damage, forgetting to secure from silent running, and DID......

You saw ships?
Thats more than we've done, on the last 2 patrols.
A L A R M ! Aircraft. Damage. Return To Base.
Never even made the Grid. (jun.43).

You lived through another one. That's a big plus.

I always start out at 120 then work my way lower slowly down to about 200 max. when I get that low I like to pop up to 120\140 and repeat.

No renown is gained for reaching your patrol grid in GWX3.0 so pick something a little more to your liking.
