I've seen it mentioned in several threads that failing to open the torpedo doors prior to firing will foobar the firing solution. Why is this so? I inevitably forget to open the doors. I missed a spread last night I wonder if it was because of this.

The firing solution assumes the doors are already open as would happen in real life.
You would then press fire and lose a valuable second or two while each door opened. Firing at the centre or towards the rear of the ship will now result in a torp that has been delayed in it's launch neatly wzzing past the propellor ![]() |
