Manual Targeting and Opening Torpedo Doors?
 

I've seen it mentioned in several threads that failing to open the torpedo doors prior to firing will foobar the firing solution. Why is this so? I inevitably forget to open the doors. I missed a spread last night I wonder if it was because of this.

The firing solution assumes the doors are already open as would happen in real life.

You would then press fire and lose a valuable second or two while each door opened. Firing at the centre or towards the rear of the ship will now result in a torp that has been delayed in it's launch neatly wzzing past the propellor :cry:
