I left St. Nazaire March 31, 1941 to complete my war patrol orders near Freetown, grid: ET21 and 24 hours after complete my mission i decided to raid the port of Freetown because my targets in the away was only 3 ships: 2 small merchants and a large Merchant, any away my luck was about to change, in May 3, 1941 08:19hrs i was able to sail to the interior harbour and i find and sunk a large troop ship with 23.543 tons...

Well done!
![]() Did you have trouble escaping? IIRC, the waters are very shallow there, barely enough to dive to periscope depth.

![]() Thats true...but to ride that harbour i set course in direction West to East directy to the port entrance there is four trawlers patroling the area and one DD (in 1941) keep PD and SR and set the speed to one knot, its very important to remain undetected untill you reach the harbour entrance (at this point its possible to see enemy ships in the bay and inside the harbour). Take a lot of torpedos as possible, because that it was my bigest problem (sailing with a U-boat VII B and in the away i sunk three ships, heavy seas must of the time, impossible to use the deck gun) if not...i was able to destroy all the enemy ships there: about six small merchants, one modern tanker, one medium merchant...this ones i can remember! :hmm:

Well done, but not my style.
![]() On Freetown patrols I wait for a convoy and follow it, until all torpedoes are expended.
