A newbie is puzzled by something....read on

hello folks,a newbie question for the old salts.......
I was shadowing a convoy when I got a little too close and over came a J & K destroyer.I managed to out-manouver her and fire off a torp which left her dead in the water and on fire.At this point I made the mistake of surfacing and all hell broke lose as the J & K spotted its tormentor.Time to crash dive and then back up to periscope depth.I took a peek and there virtually on top of me was a Hunt class escort-crunch!!!
"attack pericscope destroyed" came the report.Now at this point the Hunt escort turned red on the chart.I went to external camera and there was the escort on fire and sinking,she went down in approx 10 seconds.I sustained no other damage in the collision.Surely the J&K didn't sink the escort?

First of all, welcome aboard, Elekctronaut!

If you are playing stock SH3--There is a bug. Your periscope will create flooding on a destroyer and sink it--A known bug fixed in the GWX versions

Did you add any mods on top of GWX?

If the sun ship symbol was red then you sank it. Maybe your razor sharp periscope tor a hole in the bottom of the Hunt.

But would my razor sharpe periscope set the escort on fire?And i wasn't credited with a sinking on my patrol summary.My opinion is that the J & K sank the escort which would obviously be a bug in the game,but please tell me it ain't so.

You must have a Korkenzieher Scope installed... a very effective weapon.

If you can see it... you can sink it. :rotfl:

"Friendly Fire" is a very real occurrence.

And it does happen in this game....
