Default When did this start happening

Morning all,

It's December 1940 and I am south of the Irish sea, about to pounce a convoy and look what is part of the protection screen, since when did this start? Is it a part of GWX?

It may made it somewhat hard to escape after the attack since he can follow me to any depth.

Don't worry!

Those are just scripted British subs and besides, it says in the manual they can't dive!

Even if they do they can't fire torpedoes.

Those are in the game for realism's sake. No navy complete without subs!

They're just, IMHO, ASW trawlers that look like subs.

Sure they can dive. With a little help from your part.

Of course, I forgot about that part! They can't dive by themselves!
It's just the matter of placing the warhead of the torpedo inside that sub's conning tower!

Not to worry, they are harmless and not worth wasting a torpedo.

The British S Class.

No AI torpedoes and sails surfaced.

Take a closer look and check out her deck gun skills.

Subs of the erra can't fire torps below a certain depth anyway, so you'd still be safe.

Think I'll pass......

I have already had the pleasure. They sniped me from across the convoy with pinpoint accuracy. Ouch..

Same. I was leaving Lorient and got the "Submarine Sighted" as is usual for leaving port. Turns out it was an S-Class on his way in (maybe he didn't get the memo about France's surrender?). I wanted to see how a sub-to-sub surface battle goes, and he was clearly the victor despite me having every advantage. I'd swear I had knocked out his deck gun in the third or forth shot though.

Something new's starting here too. Everytime I load a new patrol, the first message I get is "sonar destroyed, Sir!". Eh? I haven't even moved yet!!

Which boat and year are you starting out in? I assume from your description you mean a new patrol and not just starting a savegame?

I think it has something to do with the "Late War Sensors" mod but I can't be any more specific due to my own war experience having progressed only as far as 1941.

You should have the late war sensors mod enabled in preparation for upgrades as they become available.
