Think about Obama what you want, trust him or not, no matter, one thing is clear and must be admitted: the man is a truly endowed and brilliant speaker, and has a team of not less brilliant speech-writers. In that he probably is unique in the landscape of western politicians.

By this I wish to say nothing pro or contra about his competence and experience.

All a bunch of wind IMO, lets actually see if he will do what he says once in office.

As I listened to the speach all I could think of was a high school kid going for class president. Full of outlandish promises that will not be delivered. Coke machines in each classroom and lunch period will be 3 hours long. This is what I will do if elected class president. In reality, I believe Obama is sincere but I believe he has really not been hit with the reality of the situation in getting something done. Not to mention what he proposes will cost trillions of dollars. Were does he propose to get this money? Large corporations? No problem, they will let this new found tax trickle down to the consumer. I believe he means well and all sounds just cherry but I think he is looking at the situation in rose colored glasses. This countries problems are rooted much deeper then I think he realizes. Obama is a deep thinker IMO and has the energy to take it on but to change Washington means to do a complete cleaning of the old school that are there now and will be if and when he is put into office. He said there will be a definitive date set to get out of Iraq. I think that has been set already for 2011. Perhaps he was not around when that decision was made. I suspect he was not. Much like most of his voting record...he was not around. I think Obama needs more time as a Senator before taking the helm. Again, his speach said very little on how he plans on accomplishing these goals. We heard much the same over the past 18 months. What we are going to do without a plan. I guess his plan is leaning on Biden. Not much of a plan and furthermore, Biden is old school. Exactly what he spoke on in the past 18 months. Change Washington. Change the thinking. Biden is the old school thinking. I think at this point several debates between McCain and Obama are called for. Remove the poking and baiting from the debates. Get to the real issues and solutions.

Obama's voting record speaks much more eloquently about the man than the man does. Unfortunately, if he becomes president, "Present" isn't an option.

He struck me as being little different to those political con merchants in Westminster.

Actions always speak louder than words.

Never a better statement. The theme of 'Change' is working for him. My thinking is he wants 'change' and your paper money also. How else is he going to make it work? Talking about it and voting on it is all well and good. Financing is something all together different. He said he is going to tap the natural gas resources and nuclear power to get the US off oil. At least he is thinking about nuclear power and other energy alternatives. I do not think drilling off the coast is a stop gap solution as he believes it is. It is one of many parts to make the whole over all energy scheme. I seriously do not think oil will be a thing of the past during my life time on this mud ball we call earth. As far as healthcare, what needs to be done is reducing the cost of healthcare. It is just out of control. From doctors on down to the pharmacist. This needs to be looked at under a microscope.

You need to brush up on your English, Sky. While McCain seems to have some problems with remembering things, Obama is a pretty bad speaker if has no notes or prepared speech. I am not even sure that Bush was better before he got his rhetoric's training.
Don't get me wrong. I kinda like the guy. I find him charismatic and wouldnt' mind having him as a neighbor.
