Now I'm playing 1.4 with RFB. Everything with RFB is great except the range finder. When I use it to find range to anything, it give me the wrong range, simple as that. I was trying to determine the range to a freighter last night, and it it gave me the wrong range. When I go to the attack map, the white cross which should be on the sillouhette on the freighter, was way short. I took a few more ranges over a period of few minutes, and the range still did not improve. Then to confirm my suspicion that it's wrong, I went to the big map and took the range with the ruler. I manually inputed the figure into the rangefinder and sent it off the the TDC, opened up the attack map again, and yep, the white cross was on the sillouhette. The rangefinder was off by a good 300 metres.
And since the modders said the only provide support to those with 1.5, what can I do now? Before I can figure it out, I think I'm gonna give TM a go. |

This is a guess but are you using imperial measurements or metric? I would bet that everything in RFB is imperial because it is a realism mod. :hmm:

See this thread for some nice reasons to get 1.5:http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=139080
Also, not properly identifying your target can affect your range as well. Are you using your p\k, as this helps in the process as it tracks both your boat's movements and that of your targets, allowing you to make adjustments accordingly. RDP |

HI Mush. Make sure you are using the new heights to measure range by. They are marked in red in the recognition manual and do not measure mast head height anymore--most measure the stack height instead. I missed that when I first fired up the new RFB version and my ranges weren't even in the same ocean.
Peto edit: looks like I waited a little too long to hit reply

Guys thanks for the help here. Peto was spot on. It was because I didn't realise you don't measure the mast anymore.
