Default Radio mod problems

I shoud be most grateful for any advice concerning the following problem: I cannot get any stations on my radio, only white noise. I've downloaded the radio mods created by fred8615 and the radio station manager, which works fine, but I can't get any stations on the receiver, only noise. I see in fred8615's instructions that you have to edit the radio.inf file in your radio folder by pasting station info into it , but how do you do that? How do you open the .info folder? I've used various applications to do this, but have had no success; I've searched this forum and the web in order to find out why, but in vain; I've downloaded S3D, believing that this tool may solve my problem, but if it does, I have little idea of how to use it. Any advice concerning this matter would be most welcome.

The radio ini file can be opened with notepad .

In the read me file with every radio mod you will find the channel info you need to cut and paste into the radio.ini file, after youve done that just save the ini file.

I posted this in one of my radio mods that someone was having trouble with:

In the radio folder there will be a text file that is titled "radio configuration settings" should be 1-2kb in size, when you put your cursor over it that info will pop up. Right click it and "open with" notepad. it will look similar this in the window:

[GENERAL]
RadioRealism=Yes
StartCh=1

[CHANNEL]
Name=Amos & Andy
Folder=Amos & Andy
Freq=10
Antenna=01.01.1941-01.01.2000:34.05,-118.22:100000

MusicVolumeOnNews=0.01

[CHANNEL]
Name=CBS NEWS
Folder=CBS NEWS
Freq=30

Folder=Burns and Allen

Folder=Jack Benny Show
Freq=70
Antenna=01.01.1941-01.01.2000:34.05,-118.22:100000

Folder=Son of Svenghoulie

Folder=D-Day Broadcasts
Freq=100
Antenna=01.01.1941-01.01.2000:34.05,-118.22:100000
MusicVolumeOnNews=0.01

If you notice each [CHANNEL] has a Name that will show up in the game as a help pop-up when you cursor over the radio knob, Folder is the actual folder name and Freq is the station #, just like in RL. What I told everyone in the cut and paste is you add your own Freq # because not everyone's radio stations are set up the same. You may have only 3 stations setup, Freq #'s 20, 30, 40. If you add a new station to this example, then the [CHANNEL] cut & paste would be go to the very last line hit your "enter" button to get to the next line without any text and right click "paste" the copied [CHANNEL] info. Then go to the line that says Freq= ,
and type "50" so it touches the = sign. Then go to the "file" top left of the window look for "save" and select.

Important: make sure each INDIVIDUAL channel has a space btween them so the game recognizes them as an individual entity.

I think the problem is not putting in a value for the frequency. Try giving this a go. Remember it's an example and should not be copied verbatim but it gives you a stencil to fill in. Hope it helps.

Thanks a lot shipmates for your speedy replies. I'll have another shot at loading the radio stations this evening. Having been brought up in the old steam-radio days (not a TV set in sight back then), I'm looking forward to tuning into those old stations and listening to the old shows; I'll add plenty of swing music as well. Beats the hell out of that monstrous noise known as "rap".

The radio station manager lets you enter all of that information without having to manually edit the .ini file. If you used RSM to import the station folders, then entered the info for each station, all would be copacetic. It also handles the repeated events problem with mid-patrol saves and searches for radio station problems that can cause CTDs (missing or misnamed media files in the events folder).

Sorry I wasn't able to reply until now, but I see you got the help you needed. I did want to remind you that will have to put music in the stations, otherwise you still won't hear anything until it's time for a scripted program.
