Purchasing SH4 or sticking with SH3

I don't quite remember why I stopped playing SH3 a year or so ago, because I really enjoyed it. Nonetheless, I want to get back into it. Should I purchase SH4 (remember when it came out, seemed like a classic Ubisoft ****-up) and whatever mods/add-ons, or just reinstall SH3 + GWX 2.1?

So, if anyone out there who has played both could enlighten me... and abstract costs... just consider which one you enjoy playing more. Thanks.
