Default Extended shore leave

I didn't mind that SH3 was designed by a programmer who really didn't pay attention when learning how to make save points in his program.

I didn't mind that the progrssion of mods for the game evolved to the point where weather went bad for biblical periods of time. I've seen periods of rain that even Noah never experianced.

But when mods progress to a point where i must change my machines resolution just to be able to use them, its time for an extended shore leave.

GL with it gents.

Same here.. i've always used the "stock" resolution with no issues on a 19" Standard screen, LCD (game is most likely at 1024x768 i assume). I'm running stock 1.4 with GWX 2.

Tool.

Never had to tweak anything, running a 22" LCD on 1024x768

No twikies, twakies, or twookies needed on my SH3 through GWX. Maybe it's the hoochie woochie.

He runs at 800 x 600.

I know he went dark on SH3Cmdr R3.0 because it now runs at 860 x 630.

He doesn't seem to realise that 800 x 600 is pretty much not supported by anyone any more. He also doesn't realise that SH3 rescales when he runs it, which is why it still looks OK. SH3Cmdr displays commensurate with whatever display settings he has chosen. So, as 800 x 600 < 860 x 630, he loses some of the SH3Cmdr screen.

Dunno if this is what he is ranting about, but as I explained to him before, the game runs at 1024 x 768, so I based R3.0 on a minimum of that screen resolution. As always, the Pareto principle applies; most guys benefit from the changes, some don't. But let's be honest here, who still runs at 800 x 600 anyway?

Secondarily, if it is GWX he is using, we've made no real changes to the weather in SH3 to date.

Those 'biblical storms' are coming from somewhere else. (At least until the release of 2.1. The RWF mod has been in testing for 2.1 over the last several weeks with no dramas showing so far.)

Maybe T.Von Hogan just has bad JuJu.

Indeed. The idea is pretty bizzare to me.
I think you need to change your machine's resolution for more than just mods nowadays.

I don't mean that as a smart-ass remark - just that I honestly can't recall using this resolution for a game or any other purpose (except video, but that's a different beast) since 2001 - and I've never had extremely fast computers either.

Bottom line: if you don't like a mod, don't use it. Simple.

Or better: make a mod that's better.

Until my 15" monitor went black (dead, shooted by a bullet during call of ducty 2... ), after (almost) 10 or more years of use! I allways used 800x600 in windows (even in xp) and in games. SH3 when played in the old monitor, the game automaticly changed the resolution to 1024x768!
