Default U-99's Harbour Cruise Tour 39'

The HMS Hood was just the beginning.....

After reading about other Kaleuns exploits in the harbour raiding thread I decided to start over with a new career and try something out that could only happen right as the war started - raid the British main warship harbors before the defense becomes insanely hard.

Starting in Willhelm with a VIIB pushed the petal to the metal to speak, and heading straight to Plymouth at flank speed. By the time hostilities with Brittan began I was already heading into the harbour and was able to position myself easily to sink the HMS Hood that was just sitting there in the middle of the harbour. She was my first strike of the day; but there was much more to come

For once I had a decent patrol area, in the AM sector. After that was finished decided to sneak into Loch Ewe and hopefully find a BB or CV lying in wait. After sneaking into the harbour (which was super easy, though getting out was much harder than getting in) was dissapointed that there were no capital ships at all. Did find a floating dock which was some easy tonnage at the cost of 1 eel.

After leaving Loch Ewe still had 3 eels left so decided to see what was in Scapa Flow. This time entered from the West and (while time consuming at silent speed) was easily able to get into the waters and hit the jackpot again! Hugging the West coast I easily got through the DD screen and was shocked (and delighted) to see that sitting in the middle of the harbour was nothing else but.......the HMS Hood!

With only 3 eels left had to make sure each one of them was used to their full potential. Since the seas were calm and the Hood was stationary my best bet was to use the magnetic sensors despite their flaws. Set the first to 13m aft of the last mast and scored big time, caused at least a 20-25 degree lisp. Last two eels had to count so set them for 15m and aimed under the #2 & #3 turrets and managed to blow up the magazines as the ship buckled like a keelbuster and went down in a matter of minutes. Then slipped back out the same way I entered without any detection and returned home for a much deserved rest (and a lot of medals awarded to my crew).

Hehe, yeah the Hood is always a prime target. Never thought I'd see it twice in the same patrol :hmm:
